Painting a stock

I use a lot of duracoat but brownells has some good bake on spray paint.I've done several ar's in it

If you ever need duracoat I'm right up the road in belt. I have a ton of it in a lot of colors.

I've done a few…have an automotive paint guy clear coat them and put them in the oven at a lower temp for a longer than his normal time. I had a local guy who would shoot them for less than $100 but I had to have them taped off and ready to be painted. It's crazy the depth it adds to the swirly.

Did you clear coat over the Textured areas on the stock or tape those areas off? I am going to use the Clear Coat on several of my stocks. Think the spray cans MAX. Our Stocks are on post #29 McMillan XIT.

Yes sir, cleared over the entire stock…always taped off the bedding and the barrel channel…everything else was coated.

This was always automotive sprayed and baked so I have no idea how the can stuff would work. He was layering several coats, this stuff was several thousandths thick.

Forgot this pic when I leaned it up against the ash tree in my backyard. I was shocked at how it looked.

Thank you. Labor of love ya know. Interesting technique; on the ABS stock I did a light overspray through some lace with a custom cloud gray I mixed up. I call that pattern woodland mist. I really like how it turned out.

It doesn't need to be permanent.. Look to the Archery guys for a solution!
There used to be a bow camouflage painting kit called "Bow Flage" or something like that.. three or four cans of different color camo paint and suggestions for how to create a good camo look. like using local leave and plants as a stencil kinda thing.. I used it years ago on my bows.. and the nice thing was, it was durable yet removable.. that was in the days before everything came with "factory camo.
