Blue Mountain Precision upgrade

I've only ever tried h1000 and rl23. Are you set on using the 120 bt bullet? If i remember correctly they have a really long bearing surface. I'm shooting 61.5 grains in adg brass and 62 in the Norma they are different lots and definitely max in my guns so work up.
I have had nothing but DRT dramatic kills with the 120gr BT across a myriad of muzzle velocities. 90% of my shots here in the Deep South are under 200yds. I'm literally planning to hunt my stand for this year with a .24 Nosler I built using 90gr Ballistic Tips to test for an article if that tells you anything. That also means I'm at sea level. Not sure how high you are or where they record data in manuals, but we really have to work for extra speed down here.

Having said that, no, I'm not dead set on using that bullet. They were inexpensive to use for break-in, and I knew I could gauge where the rifle was compared to that old 6.5x284 I mentioned earlier. I have a plethora of choices. I've found the 130gr VLD Hunting to be very easy to load super accurately in a couple different platforms. I do have some 142gr ABLRs, 127gr LRXs, 143 ELD-Xs, and some others. 140gr BTs, which will have even more bearing surface.

If you're a speed freak, you're not gonna get what you want out of the prc. It's not even close to breaking any speed records. You'll need to step up in to the 28 nosler territory
May have to drop to 150gr ELD-Xs or 145gr LRXs, then. I guess it depends on how the barrel performs. I don't think anyone has ever accused Hawk Hill of being really fast. If it has a little bit of freebore to it, I'm thinking maybe I can work with it. If it's better than the 7 Rem Mag 24" factory barrel I have, I think I can make it work.

What are you planning to hunt with this rifle?
The 6.5 saum with a 25" barrel should get a 140 grain bullet to 3100-3200 fps. I have two one is a 24" and it shoots 140 elite hunters at 3115fps and the other is a 26" shooting 140 vldh at 3200fps.

I haven't loaded for a 7prc yet but looking at load data you would be lucky to get 3100-3150 with the 180's in the 27" barrel.
I agree. Easily 3100 with a 140 grain. I've read your post and replies. I bet it will. I've had SJA barrels in past. They all shot awesome. I achieved my fps goals on all of them. Go figure

This is off topic some, but this one is looking like it's going to get where I want it. Extremely forgiving and stupid accurate. That's a 26 7/8" Brux 1:7.5 on a blueprinted and upgraded Rem 700 LA chambered in a .257 caliber wildcat having .250" of freebore using reduced Norma .264 Win Mag cases with StaBall HD. IMR8133 worked as well. At 3146 ft/s with a bit more room to improve throwing 134gr ELD-Ms. Shoots 133 Elite Hunters equally as well. Have been cautious not having any data. Started out with RL33 and went slightly faster. ZERO recoil with the Gentry radial brake! #4 contour with HS stock. 8 pounds exactly and well balanced. 8 pounds is not including the 34mm Eotec scope, of course. I believe I can get well over 3200 with the 134s. They aren't short range hunting bullets, however. Wanted 3300 with the 133s. Not sure I can get there, but may.

I live at 3000' elevation. I had a 6.5-284 but once I got my first 6.5 saum I sold it. I feel like the 6.5 saum is the perfect 6.5

I thought so, too, but... 6.5x284 is 175 ft/s faster. Somebody said use H1000... I'll give it a shot (pun intended). I'll actually try 123gr SSTs. Less bearing surface than 120gr Noslers. If it won't gain speed with the SSTs, it's certainly not going to with 140gr anything.

My 6.5 saum with a 143 eld-x does 3170 without pressure. I would be apt to have a smith throat the saum barrel out a bit more.

The PRC is an interesting round but does t offer anything new to a handloader that several other 7mm's won't do of properly twisted and throated. It is an easy button for factory ammo shooters though

Why not a 7-300 PRC or a 28SM if you want the speed? A 7 PRC is a good round, but not that impressive.
Why not, indeed! Both would be ultrasonic for sure! I already have the 300 PRC brass. I have actually considered a 7-300 for awhile. I think it would deliver about as much performance as a 7mm ought to have lest the barrel be burned quickly! I actually have way more 7 PRC brass, though. My several-months-long backorder for Hornady brass shipped yesterday, and I have a bit of ADG, also. Plus a little factory ammo onhand. May as well try it, I guess. I still may go back to the 7-300 PRC consideration. The .27 Nosler has caught my attention, as well.
