7mm STW Brotherhood - For those who shoot the 7mm Shooting Times Westerner

Your call but im a bit confused what's. It too like 140s at 3350 under .5" and a stable temp powder? Gets me to 3200 with 160s to .25". I guess should of asked this for hunting or targets?

My elk load is the Nosler 168gr ABLR, 83.5 Retumbo 3.734 COAL at 3375 fps, (7,000 ft altitude) in a custom Winchester Model 70 Classic Lerado LRH, 29" Bartlein Barrel no pressure signs unless I use FED match primers currently using FED 215s. Only pressure signs with the match primers are they start to flatten a little. If you use this load do not load them any shorter I have an extended Wyatts box.

So Im starting from scratch again. had a fire in my shop (Thank God guns are inside house) Anyway If anyone has any STW brass or 8mm Mag brass I could use 25pcs. Let me know how much. I can get LC 5.56 and 308 from work as well as 9mm and 45 ACP but STW brass you will not find locally on ANY shelf in Virginia. Got some 300WM and 300 WSM yesterday. STW is purpose built so not much random shooting with it. I have 13 rounds loaded. Let me know if you have some to sell or trade. Need to work on my 3 reloading presses and see if they will work. Bare metal and melted plastic is current status.

Thanks,
Jim

Graf and Sons has 7 STW brass in stock. Shooters Pro Shop has is blem and over run Nosler brass from time to time. I bought a bunch a short time ago, but they are out of stock now

Hey what kind of stock is on your model 70 in the picture? It looks nice. Bought my Savage 16 STW used with about 75 rds through it. Owner was recoil sensitive. I laughed when he said he was gonna buy a 300WM. I told him your not losing much recoil with a 24" hunter profile 300WM. But he said I was wrong. Some folks ALWAYS have to learn the hard way. I got a great deal so WIN for me. Now I want to build one from scratch. I have an SS 112 Action from a 300wm host. And a A5 Stock. Have a Leupold MK4 LR Mildot to top is off. Its a work in progress.

What's everyone's recipe for 168-180 Berger vld's?IMG_0846.JPG This is my rig blue printed model 700, #5 contour fluted brux 1-8.5" twist at 26",hs precision stock, night force shv 4x14-56, custom fish gill break, cerakote graphite black. Running 70.1 gr H1000, fed 215 gm, necked down 8mm Remington brass, 3.100 just touching the lands no jam with Berger 180's, at 2950. But would like to see what everyone else is getting for velocity and accuracy with these two bullets.

Nice rifle.

No experience with Berger Bullets but I am running H1000 81 gm with 168 Nosler ABLRs. This is a 3 shot group at 300 yards out of one of my Remington 700 Sendero SF 7mm STWs.

Velocity was 3,192 fps and the group was .729" which is a .243 MOA.

Thanks this rifle has been in the works since I first seen and read about the stw back in the early 90's.

I run Berger 180s in 26" Bartlein 9 twist with IMR 7828 and Retumbo @ 3,000 + fps in Nosler brass. Gonna try RL-26 when I get time.

Anybody using h50bmg powder for the stw? What pills and powder charge would be greatly appreciated. I am shooting a Savage 110 with a 25 3/4 1:9.5 twist
