Just wondering what ya-all are shooting for your 33's? I am going to shoot the 250 berger elite hunter and would love any ideas on best powder, primer, etc.

I have plenty of freebore so I can stretch this thing to where it will be 3/4 down in the neck.

Thanks in advance..

Accuracy was excellent when shooting the 250 EH bullets in my 338RUM with the bullets loaded .220" off the rifling. 2.5" groups at 400yds were obtainable so I wouldn't be concerned with all the freebore you have in your rifle.

Just guessing but there is likely only three guys with a 33nos on here. Plus jfseaman has a 33/26.

I havent done much for playing eith mine yet, I did run a ladder with the 265 lrx, looks like the rifle should be easy to tune.

No, I am very happy to have the freebore, Gunsmith does a great job.. Just wondering if anyone has found a powder that seems to be the "Cat's Meow."

Varmit, what powder you running in your RUM?// I have a few ideas but if you guys can save wasted time and shots down range awesome.

Warning: I have not verified this yet.

My QL model for 338/26 is one of the most accurate compared to actual.

I want to try RL-26 in the next batch of shooting 250s in it. It models as the fastest.

Just a FWIW comment.

Thanks guys I will start playing with a few powders and see how it goes. Thanks for all the info.. I believe you can always save yourself headache if you listen those who have traveled the path.

I'm using 89.0gr RE26 in a Nosler case with a Fed 215M primer. Velocity is 2,970 with single digit SD. I could probably get a bit more velocity with the RE26 but I see no reason to even try.

I'm in need too just getting my 33 finished. It is on a Montana 1999 LH with a 375 box Manson is making me a reamer based on my dummies I sent him. There OAL were around 3.55--looking at shooting the 250 EH and 265 Nosler and LRXs from Barnes...Any info would be appreciated!!!

I'm a little confused at what information you are looking for.

Are you looking for powder suggestions?
Load starting point suggestions?
What results to expect?

First,

Powders. I like using Reloader,22,23,25 Norma MRP, ect...suggestions

Don't know what my free bore will be or if Manson will do a tapered throat. These are the dummies I sent him with a 250 EH and a 265 LRX, also sent a 265 accubond LR--would also like to chunk a 300 every now and then too.

Second,
Starting point...yes... Would like to get a 250 and 265 going about 2800fps for a net result. This will be on a Montana 1999 with a 3.65 mag box and a 1-9.4 26 in proof sendero contour barrel.

my brother has a 33 nos... he goes by the handle jokostel here... I'll give him a yell if you need anything; his rifle is shooting well already and he's only gotten out with it a few times...He's looking at getting into the 265 ablr when it comes out... at present he's working with 300grain pills...

I can get down to finder recommendations if you share the COAL of you sample rounds.

2800fps should be easy peasy.

I think you will like RL-26 better than 22, both work. I would not choose 23 or 25.
Norma MRP should be great. I bought some for mine but never tried it.
IMR 7828SSC is one of those powders that just "works" for me.

Both of the above bullets will make your velocity goal the 265LRX will take about 3 grains less powder.

Cool I'll get me some 26 and try the MRP...I have had good luck in the past with it. My COL is 3.55 fits in the box just fine. Never used 7828 much--saw your data on it and may give it a swing. My reamer should be here next week, and so should my McMillian stock--and can cut some metal--and start sticking some things together--then see what we can get out of it.

well, my brother was at the range today with his 33... He used some 250 sierra game king bullets I had given him, 78rl19, wlrm primers, and nos brass. He was at 2825fpw and got 3/4" at 200 yards...
