Been punching paper and rock shooting at 1000+ yards for a few years but I'd like to finally purchase a steel target to set out at 1000. Not really sure what steel target to place there. Any suggestions? (6mm to 338 Lapua will be shot at it.)

I like AR500 in 1/2 inch so I can shoot it from 200 yards and out. I've been pounding on it for 4 years and it looks like it will last forever. Mine are 12 inches square all the way to 1000 yards. Got mine off eBay.

This one is going to sit forever at 1000. I need to order online and ship it to a PO Box. I don't have lots of shopping opportunities in any town. (I go from work at sea to off time at my remote cabin.) So a manufacturer and model number would be great info. While I'm at it I may place a 1760 yard target out there. What size target (again a model and manufacturer info needed) should that be? That one may get shot at with a 50 BMG but primarily a 338 LM.

If the biggest thing that you shoot at it will be .338 LM or Edge or a variant of those two, then 3/8" AR 500 plate is really all you need at that distance. You might get away with 1/4, but I would default to the bigger plate to eliminate any risk of damaging the plate.

Personally I have 1 - plate that is 3/8", and it gets used at and above 1,000 yards with my 338 LM Improved, and my friend's 338 Edge.

I have a bunch of 1/2" plates and they get used anywhere from 200 yards out to 2,300+.

When I get my 2 mile gun (375/416 Barrett), the 1/2" plate will be used exclusively, and no closer then 1,000 yards. (Basically going to treat it like its a 50 BMG for energy)

I'm lucky and my home range has 3/4" AR500 plate targets permanently mounted, so I can shoot closer than 1,000 yards.

AR 500 is the way to go. I have a bunch, mostly 12 inch.

I have some 30x30 inch targets that I use for long range. I like the larger targets for long range, as it's easier to make corrections if you can see where your round is hitting.

For steel at that distance, save some money and weight
AR 500. 1/4 inch you will not damage the target.
Size: I like shoot full size metric IPSC.
You save a lot of weight and easier to move.

Check out the target chart at MOA Targets

A buddy of mine and I bought a 3/8" AR400 plate 4'x8' and plasma cut it in half to be able to move it by hand it resides at 1000 yds and gets regular 338 Lapua abuse without any issues at all. At that range it works great just gets a fresh blast of white paint once in a while. If that's bigger than required the best targets to use in my opinion are the full size 18"x30" IDPA AR500 3/8" targets used in conjunction with the Hang Fast Target Hangers.

Amazing how folks can basically ignore the OP's question - looking for specific products and companies. Shipping to a PO box is unknown but here are companies I've found that have steel, some specifically for .50 BMG.

Targets:

Action Target (steel, .50 BMG) f
LV Steel Targets (steel)
NEVCO (steel)
Range Systems (steel, .50 BMG)
Rogue Shooting Targets (steel) f
Salute (steel, .50 BMG) f
ShootSteel (steel) f
Tactical AR500 Targets (2 that support ,50 BMG) f

No hard data on 1K but we (URSA) use 3/8" AR500 at as close as 2054 yards and .50s don't even dent the plate.

Seth is a personal friend, and makes some really neat targets. He has the regular stuff, and animal targets too, and a target hanging system that kicks ***. Give him a call. You may be able to get away with 1/4" AR 500 at 1K, easier to move, but my recommendation for one target would be a full size 3/8" IPSC so you can use it at closer ranges too. Orders for $200 ship free, and he makes a **** nice rimfire set too!

I've had great service from JC Steel Targets. Jake is a good dude and the $$ goes to a great cause.

I have 8" at 200 and 300yds and 12x 12 to 900yds. With a 66% IPSC at 1050.

I did just pick up a 24x 24 piece of AR500 from a local steel shop for almost exactly $100 less than I could order one. It was definitely worth looking around this time.
