28 nosler preformance with saami spec chamber

I had mine built for the 195s , I am running mine with a Wyatts Extended box mag at 3.800 sitting on top of RL 33 and only have 60 rds down Barrel and already getting 3127 fps ,, I am sure after barrel breaks in and speeds up I will have to play with load more.. But as of now this has been a Great set up and makes 1000 yard shots seem very easy.. Also the 195 s perform Very well on game.

The 180 ELDM advertised B.C. is working for me to 800yds at 3090 (magneto speed) out of an 8.24 twist barrel. I was able to get to 3050 with retumbo and the 195s, but I'm liking the lower recoil/ percussion from the 180s. With the "lil beast" brake, I could feel the blast from the 195s in my nose. I would recommend that brake to anyone. This is in a 28 Nosler

Blackaj is running a 8 twist with 26 in barrel

I'm running 8 twist same length. 796 was good to 1100. Yards on two different outings.

Shot the 195s in a standard 28 today. 5 groups at 100 yards. Best was .3 and worst was 1moa.

Estimating speed to be between 2930 and 2950.

Ok, I just shot the 7-300 with 180 Hybrids and the 28 with 180 ELDMs at 690. They had the exact same impact elevation.

what powder?

i shot the 195s last night and the load it liked was 82.3 of rl33. everything after that opened up to 1moa . 27.5 barrel 1-8 .

i have no idea what my velocity is, but im guessing low 2900s

bottom shot was cold bore

How high did you go with powder charge???
Most 28s Seem to like the rl33 and 195s in the 85 - 88 range and run in the low 3100s

83.2 is as high as i went. im jammed at 3.635 , i didnt know what pressure id see so i started low and thats what it liked. there was zero pressure signs, so maybe i ramp up to 83.5 and move upward.

i guess im playing it too safe. bergers load for rl33 is 79.5-83.7 ( info i read on here)

My reamer is set up for a 3.765" oal length with a 195. I like 85 grains and about 3050 fps. I have ran them up to 89 grains and hit 3200 fps. The nodes are mid 3000s and high 3100s.

i guess i need to get a chrono and see where im at. 82 gr seems pretty low to what some guys are running

I have a CA Ridgeline. It is getting right at 3100 with 180 ELDMs. I personally can't see the 195 being worth it in a SAAMI spec chamber. It is a little too short for the ELDMs but is about perfect for 180 Hybrids. I am still in the middle of testing but I can tell you I would not chose 195s over 180s in a SAAMI chamber.

rfurman24 do have any new data on your ridgeline in 28 nosler?
I just picked up one and am trying to decide what bullet to use. I have ruled out the 195 berger because of the 9 twist barrel and the amout of freebore in the ridgeline. I am looking at the 180 eldm or one of the berger 180's. Curious to know what loads and bullets have worked the best for you.

I have only(and will only) tried the 180 ELDMs in my 28. My accuracy load is running 3115 in a 26" barrel with H1000. I am still getting it dialed in but it looks like a bc of .750 G1 will make the drops correct in a 9 twist barrel. My 7-300 pushes the hybrid 3165. The two bullets impact at the same elevation with the same dial. The 7-300 barrel is 2" longer and the Hybrid has less bearing surface so it most likely will consistently be capable of more speed. I think the ELDM is going to be a winner. I should be testing it out on pronghorn next month. It will take me more time and testing but I feel like the extra speed the hybrid will most likely get will make up for the lower bc for elevation but I think the ELDM will win in the wind. Either way I am not sure It will be enough to really matter. Barrel life is too short in the 28 for me to be testing multiple bullets the way they really need to be tested.
