I need some help with loads for my 300 wby. I would prefer to shoot Nosler long range accubonds in 190 grain. i have RL 22 and 25, Imr 4350 and Imr 7828ssc. I have tried the books max loads with Imr 4350 and 7828 and both have punched holes through the primers, but they were very accurate. What do you think i should do? i have talked to a smith and he said there is no firing pin issue.

What brand primer are you using?

It's OK to back off to the next node. Somewhere in the 2900fps instead of over 3000fps.

I have been using CCI magnum rifle primers. I've heard there are better primers out there, what would you do?

I have not used the powders or bullet you are using but I have had good luck using a 180 grain partition bullet and H4831 with a Federal 215 primer. Hornady claims the Federal 215 primer was developed for the 300 Weatherby. I did try a CCI 250 primer with this load but the results were disappointing.

A, haven't used your combo. You didn't mention if your rifle is a Mark V or Vanguard or another make chambered in 300Wby. I've loaded for both Wby's using H1000, 210 Bergers and Federal 215M primers with excellent accuracy. Also loaded for an old 300Wby with 1:12 twist using H4831SC and lighter bullet. The 215M primers are hard to find, but the standard 215's are quite common and performance is equal to the M's. Starting at max charge is perhaps extreme. Start lower and work up. Your 7828SC would be my choice since you already have it.

Federal 215s 215Ms if you can get them.

My basic load for almost any Weatherby chambering is IMR7828 over Federal 215 or 215Ms. Not always but most of the time.

I'm surprised you CCIs are piercing.

Thanks for all the help guys. I bought some federal primers a loaded some up with 7828 and 4350 i will have time to shoot them later this week
