Lets talk boots

I bought Kennetreks a couple years ago the day before a 14 mile walk in hunting trip with a buddy. Have always worn Danners for work and hunting before that. Always thought they were great boots till I bought the Kennetreks. 14 miles right out of the box and the only thing tha t didn't hurt were my feet. I'm sure other brands are as good

I ended up with a pair of Crispi Guide GTX boots. They have needed no break-in that I have noticed and I'm very pleased at first impression. I haven't had a chance to put many miles on them yet but they are better than any Rocky's I've ever had. This was my first pair of truly high end hunting boots. They'll be used in Alaska this coming fall.

I'll second the Scarpa Feugos. They are my go to SAR boot. I blew out the shank of my last pair in 6 months, Scarpa warrantied them no questions. Turns out they don't take too well to kicking trailer hitch couplers into submission... New boots arrived on a Friday and wouldn't you know it we got a call on Saturday. Hiked +7 miles of Canadian shield over night, in new boots, with cotton socks. Couple hot spots and a small heel blister. I did regularly dunk them in Minnesotas finest swamp water, which seemed to help with break in but generated a healthy leech farm by the end of the night...

My day to day boot is Whites Smoke Jumper, I like them better than the Scarpas. But if they sit for a length of time (like in the ready position in my squad truck), they seem to lose their fit. They seem to relax and 're-break-in' after about 30 minutes but when I get a SAR call its go time from word one. No time for boots to relax.

Got my second pair of salomons last week. After over 100miles on the first pair, im a little sad to set them aside but the new ones are awesome already. Maybe save the old ones for long walks on the beach. Ha
