Has the .243 105 gr A-Max been discontinued? The Hornady website doesn't list it anymore. None in stock at Cabelas or the local gun store. I've got a feeling that they've been replaced by the new ELD line of bullets. Does anyone have the official word on what is going on?

ALL of the A-Max's have been discontinued - they have been replaced with the ELDs... which may not be exact replacements.

I ran into the same situation a few months ago when I was trying to find some more. Emailed Hornady and said the ELD/ELDX replaced them. They have a 103gr ELDX that should work in a 1:9 twist that should be a good replacement, though I haven't found any yet. I know they told me the 108? gr ELD needs a faster twist.

Good info. Thanks guys. I'm just not excited about working up a new load and verifying drops and all that stuff. I found a load that I really like and I hate to change things.
Oh well, I guess I'll try to scrounge up a few more boxes to finish off this barrel.

Yes, about 4-5 months ago I scrounged the internet and managed to stock up about 1K of them, so I can burn out my current barrel without further load development. Even then they were not easy to find from the popular sources.

Ain't that just grand. You find something that you really like and then on the premise of "improving" it they usually increase the price and most often screw it up.
