Questions for you gunsmiths out there (or people that like to tinker like myself). I want to convert a left handed stock to a right handed stock, what does this take? Assume its a fiberglass stock, is it as simple as cutting out the unnecessary parts of the stock i.e. areas for the safety and bolt, and filling in the opposite side with bedding compound? Any advice would be great.

Thanks,

Thanks,

It is as simple (or as complicated) as that. Don't forget about the cut-out for the ejection port, if there is one. Sand and paint.

If there is a cutout for the ejection port, do you typically fill in the opposite, or leave it as is?

Thanks,

I've only done it on Savage stocks, no cutout port, so I've never made that decision. For me, it was impossible to find a 4.27 left hand stock, so I bought a Boyds rh 4.27 and cut the bolt notch on left side, filled the bolt notch on rs with Devcon 10110.

I'll try to post a picture, have never done it.

I usually just leave the existing ejection port alone but it can be filled in. The new bolt slot is what takes me the most time. I do the rough cut with a dremel then do the final shaping with files. The last few bolt slots I've done have actually looked better than factory McMillan ones!

Right hand to left
