    Wyoming draw is out

Wife and I drew area 60! Took 20 years to draw this tag the first time in 2011. Can't believe we got lucky again. Hunted 9 days in '11, and she took a buck that netted 80" after 60 days.

    7mm Rem Mag to .280AI

Given a choice, I'd pick the 7mm rem mag over the '06 every time. Factory ammo is almost as plentiful, at least in the western states, if you are not a handloader. OTOH, a crf '06 makes a great donor to build something interesting on.......

    7mm Rem Mag to .280AI

Don't think it would work. The '06 and 280 are "standard" cases .473 diameter, while the 7mm remag is a "magnum", or .532 diameter. In a crf action like the win, it'd be fairly easy to go from small to large, but large to small would require a different bolt. If a bolt could be obtained ($$)...

    SOLD/EXPIRED 3x9 Zeiss Conquest(s)

I have (2) 3x9x40mm Zeiss Conquests for sale. Matte black, standard capped adjustments, #20 Z-plex. Both scopes are brand new in box. 1 box never opened, the other just briefly to look at the scope. Not sure how to post pics, but can text them to interested parties. No trades please, selling to...

    ??'s on Savage 116 6.5x284

Brent- One thing I found interesting on the ones like yours I viewed this weekend. They all had the plastic button, front of trigger guard bolt release, and the small bolt handle w/ the molded in checkering panel. I much prefer the way yours is configured.

    ??'s on Savage 116 6.5x284

Bounty Hunter- The 6.5x284's I looked at this weekend were long action. The 116 FCSS? and the 111 LRH. Don't know about throating issues. That's the first I've heard of this, but I'm new to Savages. I do have a 16 sporter 243, that you can seat bullets way out on. I wasn't sure about the single...

    ??'s on Savage 116 6.5x284

I got the model 22 Phoenix. Sorry, not tech savvy enough for pics. Matte blue action, 26" stainless 8-twist bbl, black/red webbed stock w/ vented forearm. It came w/ a factory mounted Farrell 20 moa base. I don't know if this is a good base or not, but I looked them up and retail is $118. Nice...

    ??'s on Savage 116 6.5x284

Thanks for the replies. I went to Billings this weekend to look at the rifle, which they supposedly had two of per my phone call. Turned out they were mistaken and didn't have any. Not to be deterred, we decided to stay over, and run over to the Rapid City Cabelas on Sat. Before leaving town, we...

    ??'s on Savage 116 6.5x284

Thanks again Brent, I had seen your pic on Savageshooters but couldn't tell about bolt knob, release, etc. I much prefer the side release to the goofy little button in front of the tag. Gonna have to make a road trip this weekend and check one out.

    ??'s on Savage 116 6.5x284

Thanks Brent, I was hoping you could tell me about a couple details. You mentioned the bolt handle, is it the larger, smooth knob, or the smaller "checkered" one? Also, how does the bolt release? On the side or trigger guard? Oh and is it blind mag, detach, or ????

    ??'s on Savage 116 6.5x284

Does any one have any feedback/ reviews on the Cabelas exclusive 116 weather warrior in 6.5x284? I've been interested in this caliber for a while, and just recently came to realize that although ugly, Savages do perform. The nearest Cabelas is over 200 mi from here. So I am looking for some...
