180gr Nosler Accubond in 300 Win Mag

There seems to be an issue with Nosler 180 gr Accubonds. Last year I took a moose at 410 yards. The shot took out both lungs but there was only a tiny entry wound and no external blood. I just got back from a rough week moose hunting in Newfoundland. I shot a bull at about 325 yards down a steep...

My first moose was a nice one.

The rifle is a Blaser R8 Professional Success set up with 300 Win Mag and the scope is a Swarovski dS Gen. ll 5-25x52 P. The setup weighed a lot for the hiking I was doing over rough terrain. Next year I think I'm going with a lighter setup.

My first moose was a nice one.

My guide had a pickup that took us to the end of gravel and then the ATV over a really rough rock road and then we hiked. My tracker said we walked 11.7 miles over rough Newfoundland bogs and forests in 2 days. After I shot the moose the guide hiked back and brought the ATV pretty close. He got...

Might be a Canadian thing. The spread was 43".

My first moose was a nice one.

We got that thing stuck twice in the bog getting down to the moose. We had to get an Argo to haul it out.

Thanks. I was really happy with that bull. It is a challenge to get to Newfoundland from Dallas but well worth it. The terrain is challenging; bogs with tamarack roots under the water to trip you up, hills between bogs and forest with water under the trees. Still a fantastic place!

My first moose was a nice one.

The ATV got stuck twice in the bog. We had to quarter the moose and get the Argo in to get it out.

My first moose was a nice one.

After wanting to hunt for moose for decades I finally headed to Newfoundland Canada. I tagged this nice 18 point bull at 411 yards. We tracked this guy all one day and early the next morning got a look at him at the bottom of a hill across a bog. One shot through both lungs and he was down and...

    Question for Lefties

I learned to shoot with a RH action. Reaching across the scope and having brass eject across my right eye FoV was distracting and slowed things down. For a single shot it almost doesn't matter but it does if you are making follow-on shots. As an aside, in the military my rifles were always right...
