Well, took a chance with Retumbo and found the sweet spot I think for my new Savage 110 338 Lapua LRH. Started with 3 loadings and as it turned out the very first loading turned out the best. 300 gr SMK 83.3 grn of Retumbo .01 off the lands C.O.A.L 3.715 lapua brass and Federal 215 M primers...

I'm going to be trying out SMK 300 Grn bullets going out to 1000 yards and was just curious as to what powder you would start out with if given the choice between Retumbo or H1000 and any other pertinent information thanks in advance! I have 40 brand new Lapua cases just need primers and powder.

Thanks for the suggestion, I think I've narrowed my choice down to this caliber the more I think about it. The 195 @2900+ has some pretty amazing ballistics and killer remaining bullet energy at 1000+yards.

Great advice! thanks for the info, will definitely take heed. I cant remember the grade of steel offhand shamefully, but the actions have been pressure tested at HP white I believe in New York to pressures up to 458 win Mag levels with no problems.
