A couple of things ya might want to do before ya buy any cast lead bullets is 1 slug your barrel you might want a .459 or larger diameter bullet for the best fit and accuracy and 2 whatever bullet you choose you might want a gas check. For a good all round bullet it's hard to beat a 405 gr. cast...
Hey yobuck, I think you're right about that, it might help for about a year or two after everybody kinda falls in with the idea that Sat. is now the opener. Then traditions will change and hunters will get used to it and I guess we'll see what happens after that.
If you are looking for a bullet "that won't break the bank" Sierra 165 gr. GK is what ya want. Load that with H 4350 or IMR 4350 powder and you'll find some good accuracy, possibly under 1/2 groups @ 100yards. I have several rifles that shoot those kind of groups and they are all factory rifles...
I've got 3 different kinds of inline muzzle loaders and by far the easiest one to care for and hunt with is the CVA Optima. You can get one from Muzzleloaders.com for about $270. If your just starting out there's a couple of things other than powder and bullets you'll want, get ya a good powder...
I really like Sierra bullets it's all I use in my rifles. I've tried others but always come back to Sierra because they work. Now, most of my shots are under 100 yards with a few exceptions. I have used 117 Game Kings in a 25/06 and shot deer at 35 yards and farther and one exception was 236...
If I'm in anyplace where there is dangerous game I'm carry enough weapon ( Glock, 10mm, Smith& Wesson .500 or Ruger .454) with one in the chamber or full cylinder and enough in the magazine to ensure my safety and the safety of whoever is with me. And OSHA or any other law wants to fine me...
Okay, thanks guys. As always some good ideas and better options, guess I'll go with the 7/08 AI. The chamber's a little rough in this Savage Mod. 11 I've have but it shoots really accurate so stretching it a bit seems like a good idea.
