What outer layer for cold weather elk hunt

Cotton is the worst thing you can put on your body. There are a ton of cheap polyester clothes you can purchase. Thin long underwear is wonderful. Even if it's hot it is not too hot. Rain is common along with snow that time of year it can go from hot to cold very quickly. All the new clothing is...

    Kindler 30 golds

I would hope this fellow would introduce himself to the .17 crowd. I was really upset at Todd for not advertising that he was selling out. He could have made a lot of money and kept his integrity. The guy he sold to the first time was very dishonest and Todd learned that quickly and wouldn't...

Was the 6.5 cm really a necessity?

The 6.5 in any cartridge is outstanding. They just work. Accuracy is key. Elk are wimpy coyotes are tough. 30 calibers don't do any better job.

    Not another 6.5 question.

I agree about not going with the 6.5x47Lapua, but not for the velocity. I have both, my wife runs the 260 and I have the 6.5x47 I run same velocity less powder, less barrel length brass is harder to come by. The Creedmoor is the competition. But bring them all, there is not a bit of difference. I...

    6.5 Creedmore or .308 Win. ?

I owned a Creedmoor and never shot it. I have a 6.5x47 and the wife shoots a .260. All three are the most accurate rifle's I have ever witnessed. I sold my Creedmoor, didn't need another 6.5. The Creedmoor is the most accurate rifle I have ever seen out of the box. I have shot a lot in the .308...

    The Facebook crazies

I wish you were right here but the 6.5's have been turned hard since before 1900. 7.5twist has been the 6.5x55 twist rate forever. The Europeans have had it in the bag for over 100 years. We were just slow to catch on. And the 6.5 is not just the Creedmoor, Mitchell Maxbury American born New...

    The Facebook crazies

I could shoot the 69 grain Sierra Matchkings out of the 14 twist, at 500 feet above sea level but that was out of a 22-250 Ackley. I shot them at an any rifle any sight match at 600 in Milan Il. My score was 185 for 20 shots. Not as good as I had hoped. I was slung into a Tupperware stock. Not...

    Long range ballistic validation question

I have a friend that thought his dope was on from Eastern Wyoming to Western Wyoming. I suggested we prove it at my favorite place to shoot. BLM with a nice sandy spot. I have steel out to 1100. 4 inch discs. Painted orange in a real dry environment. Easy to see impacts. He was shooting a 270...

    The Facebook crazies

I think this needs to be resolved. I live at 7200feet above sea level. So I can't prove this. I shot a 22-250 IMP for a long time. It has a 14 twist. I shot it at 500 feet above sea level. I shot the Sierra 55 gr spritzer boat tails. Number 1365 Extremely accurate. I had a .223 12 twist shot...

    The Facebook crazies

I read the chart that you supplied and then went to Hornady's website. They do say that it shouldn't be shot in anything less than a 12 twist. I don't have access to sea level but the chart you submitted is very conservative. I lived at 500 feet above sea level a long time and shot a lot of...
