Savage 110 short action aftermarket options for stocks?

Get an MDT Oryx. Mine is working out extremely well.

Looking for a factory 280AI rifle.

I’ve played with different loads and settled on the 143HH over H4831sc with ES and SD under 5 at 3150fps. If I’m doing my job the rifle is a .5MOA gun repeatedly. I could chase more speed with RL 23 or 26 but can’t find any to purchase and the combo listed above has done just fine in the field…...

Looking for a factory 280AI rifle.

If you are open to it, the CA Ridgeline chambered in 280AI is an option. I love mine and it's basically exactly what you've listed: topped with a Leupold VX5 HD 3-15x44 scope and with a Spartan precision bipod I have no complaints whatsoever.

    Boutique Mono Bullets

I have loaded for my 7RM using Barnes and Hammer bullets. I have settled on Hammer Hunter bullets exclusively for all hunting I do with ALL of my rifles. They are ridiculously easy to develop a load with and have proven extremely effective on game. I have tried most of the big name brand bullets...

Preferred Glassing Tripod for Backpack Hunting?

I'll chime in here as I was in search of a backpack hunting tripod which would serve multiple purposes: I wanted it to be sturdy enough from which to shoot my rifle. It would have to have a "solid" attachment point from my rifle and for my spotting scope and binos. I wanted to be able to glass...

    "Custom" rifles

I've been thinking about the answer to this question for some time now... My first "real" rifle was a custom 7mm RM where the barrel was cut down from a barrel blank, mounted with an iron sight and muzzle brake machined in. The action was a Mauser action blue printed to the barrel and finally...

    Idaho Panhandle-B

I have some experience hunting Unit 6 in the Panhandle. I will say that if you are accustomed to being on foot, you will likely not see another human being. Many, as it seemed to me and my hunting partner, stay on logging roads in their side by sides or trucks. Not that you can't find/see elk...

    Lightweight hunting pant recommendation

KUIU Kutana pants for all hunting done over 45degrees for the most part. Kuiu has a side zipper to vent the hips/your boys and it's like having AC when you're sweating buckets ascending. Add a pair of zip off thermals and you have a your bottom half taken care of down to cooler temps. For cooler...

    Best lightweight rear shooting bag

I've had good success using a dry bag filled with airsoft beads. Have never weighed it so I cannot help on that data point but it sure works well and it has never gotten saturated with water enough to create mold etc and I live in the Pac NW. Erik

    280 AI FT +P vs 7mm PRC

280 AI with faster twist (1:7) as mentioned will certainly stabilize a heavy (over 170) BUT the max charge will not be as great as the 7 PRC… this would automatically equate to lower muzzle velocity, as I’m sure you know. Based on that alone, for a “long range” rifle I’d vote 7 PRC. I have a...

    Hammer Hunter for 280 AI

Thanks for the responses, all. It’s funny, we all search for “the” bullet, load and node and when we find it we second guess our selection! I guess I need to stop overthinking it. Will be using this set up for an Idaho elk trip this October and want to make sure my choices prove effective and to...
