    I was thinking along the lines of big and bad but practical. I've had a .338 Lapua and it was awesome however I was under the impression the 300RUM was a big step up from a 7mag... energy wise at 1000.

    I dont plan on shooting anything faster then 3100FPS if I can even find that. My 7mag shoots 3050fps and its not burning the barrel out. I am not too concerned with barrel life as I wont be pushing the limits. I might shoot it 100 times a year.
