    Is a Kestrel 2500 enough?

I'm doing hunting well within 1000 yards. I'm a numbers guy and I'd love to be able to put a number on the wind, instead of just looking at the leaves and brush.

    Is a Kestrel 2500 enough?

I don't own a weather meter other than the thermometers nailed to the walls of my house. Is a Kestrel 2500 enough of a tool to keep me going for a good while or are the more sophisticated versions worth it? i am not really interested in entering my ballistics into the weather meter, I'd rather...

How is any sporterized rifle with a 2 piece scope base accurate?

It cost me an insane (for a set of screws) amount of money to get the spare screws that I have. I love to measure my bullets in inches and my powder in grains, but you guys are really missing out when it comes to screws. If I ever have to re-tap those holes it's going to be in M4. But the advice...

How is any sporterized rifle with a 2 piece scope base accurate?

I want to set up one of the family heirloom rifles as a proper, ready to go hunting rifle that will be accurate and reliable. If there is a lot of misaligned tension in the scope mount, I'll worry the scope base screws will break again. Some fine people have suggested various ambitious courses...

How is any sporterized rifle with a 2 piece scope base accurate?

I like that the 2 piece base preserves access to the ejection port. A picatinny rail across the action is not an option for me, on this rifle. What I don't like is that this rifle has three plugged holes on the side, from a previous owner (my grandfather) who used a side mount to put some...

How is any sporterized rifle with a 2 piece scope base accurate?

I have an old Sako M98 built on a civilian production FN reveiver. The screws for the two piece bases broke (I think it was the forward ones but I don't remember) a long time ago. I've finally received the replacements in the mail but I wonder, how was this ever a good setup? The two scope...

    7 PRC SAAMI approved

morgkj, what cartridge do you have powering your 6.5? If I had a 6.5 PRC I might skip the 7 PRC and go for a heavy .30 cal. Or just stick to the 6.5 PRC and spend the money on ammo and optics. Sorry for being a square ;). If your 6.5 is a Creedmoor then I'd get excited over the 7 PRC.

Short barrel 1000 yard elk cartridge

This has been an exciting "what gun do I need?". Ten pages of suggestions and even at least one new member to advice against the whole purpose of the rifle. A lot of awesome rifle/cartridge combinations. What are you leaning towards? Will there be a purchase or are you on the fence?

    Savage 110 Reliable? Weaknesses?

What do you Savage shooters think of the safety? I've only handled a few examples of the 110, and I felt like the tang safety was somewhat too well protected where it sat.

    Convert 7mm RUM to??

You'll enjoy that barrel a lot longer if you leave it in the gun.

Outside dimensions of .308 Browning X-bolt magazine

Hi there, Is there a proud X-Bolt owner out there who could help me find the outside dimensions of the X-Bolt magazine, specifically for short action cartridges? Width and length along the length of the cartridge. Cheers

What bolt action rifle to replace my Sako L579 Forester

I'm not selling the Sako! But it's getting really worn and for a general use rifle, I might want to complement it with something a little newer. I like the general specs of the Sako, basically: - .308 Winchester (preferrably in an 18-22" barrel that is neither varmint nor pencil) - Hinged...

Something like an M65 jacket with armpit zippers

So I found these. https://www.arktisoutdoor.co.uk/collections/b110-combat-smock?page=1 Beautiful, lots of different camouflage patterns. Decent price. They're not really "sharp looking" for civvie use, but a tan, grey or blue one wouldn't stand out too badly as a military garment. They're...
