cabelas has a sendero in 7mm rum for $1050, if you go to the gun liabrary and search 7mm or rum you will find it. the burris xtr 2 and the viper pst are good for the money. If you opened that budget up some the steiner "tactical" scopes are great bang for the buck.

After building numerous dedicated long range and equally long barreled rifles I am wanting to take a step in the opposite direction, I'm curious if anyone here has build either a 243win/ackley or 308 win with a short 16" barrel and what their results have been in both velocity and accuracy.

I'm still debating the barrel, I'm also debating 4,5 or 6 groove tight or standard bore.........

To be honest i was looking for case life, with my other improved rifles i have notice i get on average 2 more loadings with very little streching, and a little extra velo with a 300grain bullet is and added bonus. As far as dies would you recomend i send some blanks when i get my rifle built...

ok thanks for the input guys, as for the rum and am thing i like alot of steam behind long range bullets and dont care to push them right to their edge which is why i was looking toward the am for the 200's i was thinking within my comfort zone of 900yds i have shot animals and targets beyond...
