I believe the .338RUM is shorter is was initially thought it would be the same but when they introduced it the thing was shorter probably to protect some folks... I surely wouldn't interchange these cartridges...

Agree with above post, all rifles are different you must experiment with your rifle to see what it will and will not shoot some of mine shoot good at different lengths from the lands and even against the lands.You need to experiment and document if it works you need that info!!!Good luck!
