What are the last 3 rifles you sold and why?

I don’t sell guns too often. Hmm last three? M700 Ti Mountain rifle in .308 win. I did kill a 10 point with it but that gun just wasn’t that accurate and the bolt was prone to bind a bit on that Ti action if the force was in any way not straight when working the bolt. A fellow out west was...

    Most efficient .22 center fire

The difference in puff or no puff could simply be the barrel, twist, smoothness, sharpness of the land’s edge. I had some hornady SX .224 that would leave a whorl of lead spray on paper. The bullet got there but it was losing molten Pb. The jackets are very thin and the come with a slip of...

    Most efficient .22 center fire

I still have an older 700ADL in .223 in the original style synthetic stock. I have done nothing to that gun other than taking the iron sights of and putting plug screws in the holes and adding a scope. For a $299 rifle it shoots great. 50 grain Nosler BTs shoot submoa with Varget or H4895...

    Most efficient .22 center fire

I got to go with the trend with .223 it, the fireball, is a very efficient little case and the cases would last awhile for all that work in to them. Speaking of efficiency, if your concern is stretching your powder and you don’t need all the range, the .22 Hornet is an efficient powder user...

Poor accuracy at 300y, great at 400

Lol it’s a combo name, I am short but being a former mortarman a short round was one that didn’t get a full trajectory for whatever reason.

Poor accuracy at 300y, great at 400

tangent to your thought.......sometimes using the wrong target at a range will let you shoot worse groups than the right target or even thart shame target at the right range. too big, crosshairs lost in the center too small and you cover a dot and wander behind the crosshair a shape that...

    7PRC - Peterson brass - Redding bushing?

what the heck is a clicker? A dud round? If so a headspace issue or poorly seated primer.

    What’s your spookiest hunting experience?

I did something similar. No GPS yet and I boneheadedly left my compass in my other, lighter hunting coat. Hunting state land in the snow, younger hardwoods interspersed with limestone rock domes. You walk up and over these domes about every 40 to 80 yards and the younger successional woods...

    WARNING! ABOUT HORNADY ELD-X BULLETS

That would irk me ever time I saw the empty holes in my MTM box. Even knowing I killed a 10 point and lost that missing piece of brass it rankles my sense of order. Reloaders can be an odd bunch! Hornady did that to me with a 500 count box of FMJs. 498 bullets and a slim lead core that...

Good Rem 700 long action stock with short LOP

Exactly my problem. Standard stocks are fine in a t shirt but gearing up for the cold and now I have a slow gun mount and a bit awkwardness. Except for the Winchester Browning Gold autoloader shotguns. Heck I couldn’t shoulder those things in a T shirt. My trooper buddy, 6’2”, thought...

Good Rem 700 long action stock with short LOP

This. I have a handful of McM stocks, older M40 variants with adjustable combs and spacers. After having a few of those and knowing the dimensions that work with winter clothes I just order a fixed HTG stock to my LOP dimensions. Yea it took six months but I was used to ordering non stocked...

Are the Eld x bullets that bad

Sometimes that two wound paths work out. I shot a really nice 10 pt (eastern count) white tail with a .308 and a 150 Nosler BT. Hit the near shoulder and the deer fell then tried to get up and snow plowed his way 40 yards. Processing the deer I found that the jacket passed through the near...

Help needed. Virgin 300WM brass measurements?

Rotometals, a retailer of casting lead also sells their version of chamber casting material. A bit less expensive iirc. It really isn’t hard. Plug barrel ahead of leade, I generally use a cotton patch but have seen cotton balls used. Put your rifle in a muzzle down orientation, perhaps...

Help needed. Virgin 300WM brass measurements?

If you truly want to check the rifle buy some cerrosafe and do a chamber cast, It’s not that difficult. Read and understand the directions though. There is a time frame on when to measure it after casting as it will change dimension the longer it cools.
