    Long range rest.

What about a Caldwell Magnum Deadshot? I don't own one but they had one on display at one of the local hunting stores. I messed around with it a bit and it seems very sturdy and the movement on all axis' are smooth. Caldwell® Magnum Deadshot FieldPod | Bass Pro Shops SL

Let's see your Varmint rifles !

My varmint rifle: Tikka T3 Varmint in 6.5x55 Swede topped with a Nightforce NXS 5.5-22x 56mm. Pretty much my favorite rifle in my safe. SL

More than one way to skin a coyote.

Buddy of mine is a trapper here in Alberta. Last year he turned in only one coyote (short season on account of his first kid being born right in the middle of the season) and he was paid $125 for it (skinned and stretched obviously). SL

    Soot on the case body?

Just an update, I did a thorough cleaning of the barrel and chamber last week and went to a shoot on the weekend. It seems to have cleared up the issue. Thanks for all the suggestions guys. Clever, I said the same thing when the original owner gave me the recipe for this rifle. I've tried a...

Do you need to size brand new cases?

I resize all new brass. My goal is reducing possible neck run out and dented case necks. SL

    Soot on the case body?

I was out at the range on the weekend printing groups with my Tikka T3 6.5x55 Swede (love this thing) and during my 3rd sting I noticed the case pictured below. It still printed it's usual 0.5MOA 5 shot group. Load: Virgin Lapua brass (neck sized) CCI250 Primer 47.5gr RL22 140gr SMK 2720fps...

    Help with 6.5x55

I also run a 6.5x55 in a factory Tikka Varmint. My load is 47.5gr RL22, Lapua Brass, CCI250 Primers, and 140gr SMK average 2703. The ES (62) and SD (17) are higher than I'd like to see, but it shoots very well at 0.45 MOA. I've been able to narrow those numbers significantly by switching primers...

    bi-pods

Another for Atlas. I've tried 3 different Harris bipods as well as Caldwell... Love my Atlas. It isn't as stiff as my Harris bipods and therefore I get less bipod hop which makes it easier to manage recoil and easier to see hits even as close as 300 yards with my .338. SL

At long range do you dial, BDC turret, graduated reticle, holdover, etc?

I voted for "Dial using ballistic software". However, it depends on the situation... If I have the time to go this route, I will use it. But if time is of the essence, I will use a hold over from a data card. I was at a night shoot about a month ago. We engaged targets from 200m to 510m. I...
