Yet another caliber comparison. 300Win Mag or 7mm rem mag

Excellent article, more evidence of what I’m finding may be the root of my dilemma. The cartridge more suited to the application is the 300wm, but not in this gun and I’m not about to drop $2,000 on a rifle just to rebarrel it prematurely. I saved pennies not dimes. Thanks for the input.

Yet another caliber comparison. 300Win Mag or 7mm rem mag

I like the availability of the 30 cal but for this rifle and the barrel twist, I’m starting to lean heavily towards 7mag. My grandfather shoots 7mm mag and swears by it as well.

Yet another caliber comparison. 300Win Mag or 7mm rem mag

Very true, and I’ve been all up and down the search feature cruising similar threads. As a new member though I am also trying to hit my 10 posts so that I can start opening other features of the community such as the classifieds.

Yet another caliber comparison. 300Win Mag or 7mm rem mag

Ahh excellent point, twist rate will limit the rifle to lighter bullets. Although shooting a lighter bullet with good BC from a 300 mag would certainly cover some ground and maintain lethality.

Yet another caliber comparison. 300Win Mag or 7mm rem mag

Pennies were saved and I’m looking to get the new SAKO S20. Current rifle system is a <$1000 .270win and looking to upgrade into something better suited to elk and moose. The S20 comes in a few caliber but the two I’m interested in are 300win mag and 7mm rem mag. I have shot one 7mm mag before...

Matching Huskemaw scope with 7mm rem mag 168g vld

I have since had the owner send me a picture of the turret cap and yes the velocity is 2844fps and elevation was 3600ft. Thanks to all who contributed to this post, the info I had was driving me nuts. Glad to know I wasn’t off my rocker.

Matching Huskemaw scope with 7mm rem mag 168g vld

I’ve been mulling over email Huskemaw themselves asking about it. I’m by no means a master, but have some serious doubts bout that velocity.

Matching Huskemaw scope with 7mm rem mag 168g vld

Kind of my thoughts, the amount of powder needed to get a 168 cooking at those speeds are more than feel comfortable with. Just wanted some form of either confirmation or enlightenment on the matter.

Matching Huskemaw scope with 7mm rem mag 168g vld

Hello all, I’ve seen tons of info on loading the 7mm rem mag with Berger 168g VLD and H1000, but much question comes from the fact I have a friend asking me to load for his rifle which has a Huskemaw scope. This wouldn’t be an issue except the turret is etched with 3600fps. I have not been able...
