Man, the options are pretty wide open, pretty much anything between .243win and .338 win mag would fit. Any of the cartridges based on the .308, .30-06, 300 win mag, wsm and saum would work fine. Using factory ammo, not super hot handloads will increase barrel life in any of the severely...
Man, you're not kidding. That is very in depth, it also helped me feel a lot more confident that I won't have trouble with this load. Thanks for the responses fellas!
Most of my shooting will be in the same range, maybe up to 90 at the extreme high end. I took this quote from the forum you posted, pretty interesting:
Does anyone have any experience with the temperature stability of H4895?
I worked up a new hunting load for my .308win in the last 2 months using Berger 155 hunting bullets and 46gr H4895 and am wondering if I need to drop back a bit. I get acceptable accuracy (.75moa) and am well off the lands...
My current hunting rifle is around 12-12.5 lbs. It feels pretty good, until I help someone over a fence who is sporting an 8 lb rifle.
I think there is a weight limit in Idaho, 15lbs with everything.
I have the viper hst on a .308 that I'm currently working on getting out to 1k with on targets. I also used it to harvest a cow elk this fall at ~350yds. It is the best glass I own, but is also the most expensive by a ways. I mounted mine in a 20moa mount and can theoretically reach 1200yds...
Agreed, unless you really need it, (like, cause your eyes suck) more magnification is going to magnify wind and heat induced mirage. I have a 4-16 on my .308 and can sight in on a pop can at 1k. Can't hit it, but I can see it. After the barrel heats up, I can't reliably see that though, fwiw.
That's the lee trimmer I was talking about ^^^. When I first got into reloading I just used the trimmer without the little wind up motor by hand. At some point I figured out to chuck the lock stud up in my cordless drill, it works great that way and you don't need to mount it to anything. Then...
I have my press mounted on a roughly 16" piece of 2x12 screwed to the base of an old cafe table. The sort you see in diners with a center tube and a big round foot. It weighs maybe 30lbs and I stack boxes of bullets or bags of birdshot on the base for stability. I've never taken it to the range...
It's been a couple years since I've been on this site, so I thought I'd do an intro thread. Pretty sure I did one years ago, but I couldn't find it. Must've got deleted, oh well.

Born on the breaks of Hells Canyon; Enterprise, OR. Had a great view of the Seven Devils growing up. Moved to ID in '93. lived in 1L, 8B, 1A (ugh!) and now in W. just moved back after 4 years in La Grande, OR. Glad to be back and out of the wind!
take a look at jp enterprises recoil reduction system. what they have done is lightened the bolt carrier group and used an adjustable gas block to control bolt speed on their rifles. i discovered this information after i had already installed an adjustable gas block on my bushmaster 308 orc. my...
