12ga with Brenneke slugs my first choice. 45 Super with 255 hard cast with 8+1 in the chamber 2nd

I have a Remington 870. I use low powered rifle scopes and Remington extended rifled choke. 20" barrel with saddle scope mount. Keeping it simple Sabot type slugs did not work Federal Truball slugs worked for me as did the cheaper Brenneke slugs Be thinking about 1 1/2" groups @50 yds. IIRC...

I'd go 223 24". I'd want something closer in length and weight to my bigger rifle. 1/9" twist is good for most 223 bullet weights. 1 personally go 40x .22lr, Rem Milspec .223, 40XC 308 all with 24"
