    Gunsmiths for Ruger M77 rebarrel?

I don't think I'm wasting money, but if you look into blue printing a ruger action in other threads and forums, most of it is "spend another $100 and get into a custom". I got my cost analysis from have Rem 700s trued up. That runs around $250. Doing it to a ruger at a minimum will be the same...

Then my apologies. I took that wrong way. At a minimum, truing will be $250.

    Gunsmiths for Ruger M77 rebarrel?

Cost of blueprinting a Rem 700 is at a minimum $250. Assuming if I would have bought this Ruger brand new today just for the action you're looking at $800-$1000. You're right in the ball park of a custom action. I'm not here to debate the merits of factory vs custom, I'm here to get the names...

    Gunsmiths for Ruger M77 rebarrel?

Nothing wrong with them just seems like most people scoff at the idea of putting the same amount of money into truing up a ruger as it would cost to buy a custom.

    Gunsmiths for Ruger M77 rebarrel?

I talked to him a while back about another project with a Howa action. He didn't sound interested in truing up factory actions but was willing to do just the chamber. I'd like to find someone that would spend the time to true up the face, lugs, thread etc.

    Gunsmiths for Ruger M77 rebarrel?

I agree with everything you've said. I've got quite a bit of history with this rifle. It's chambered in .300 SAUM and IMO is the best of the short fat magnums. I'm planning on staying with this chambering. I've got over 500 pieces of Norma brass and another 750 pieces of Remington brass. Never...

    Gunsmiths for Ruger M77 rebarrel?

I have, my regular guy I go to won't pick up the phone or call me back. Getting fed up and frustrated. There's only one other guy in town I trust but it's the same deal with him. Being that I'm driving truck for a living, it's not too big of a deal to drop it off anywhere from...

    Gunsmiths for Ruger M77 rebarrel?

Good evening everyone, I'm in need of recommendations for a really good gunsmith that is will true up a Ruger M77 MK II action, rebarrel, and do a proper glass bedding job into the stock. Yes I understand I'm "wasting" money doing this with this action. Don't plan on selling the rifle. No, I...

Has Montana general deer tag become a waste of money?

2 seasons ago where we hunt, the deer population was noticeably non existent. Then come that winter some houndsmen ran dogs through the area and took care of 3 big Tom's. Didn't notice much difference the next season but this season there was a big improvement. Not many bucks but a lot of does...
