I have a .338 wm, trued action, bedded McMillian Stock, Shilen Match, ect. Mark 4 scope.
I'm going on my 60th round of Federal Premium 250 Gr Nosler Partitions. Basically I'm shooting 1 to 1.5 MOA. With no pattern to tell you about. I'm kind of married to the bullet because I am going...
I talked to a sales person on optic's planet website on the chat box today and they offered me the Steiner T5Xi 3-15x50 for $1,500. On paper this thing has everything. If I wasn't reading about all of these problems, this would be an easy decision.
I guess this has a half inch better relief than the FFP. I was wanting to buy the SHV FFP, which is 2.8-3.1 inches. I would love someone to be able to talk me out of the FFP or convince me that 3 inches is enough for a .300 win mag. If they did, I could just make this decision already.
The eye relief on the SHV ends up being a deal breaker for me since it's going on a .300 win mag. The z5 just doesn't have the mechanics I need for longer distances. The x 5 solves all my problems, except for high price tag. It looks like I am going to end up with Leupold.
I have just gone through all of this and for what it is worth this is where I ended up after alot of research. Rem 700 blueprinted, chambered in .300 wm, shilin match grade #4, and the McMillan Game Scout which is carbon fiber. Absolutely love this stock. I am actually going to give the x-mark...
This is the exact position I am in, except I want to push out to 800-1000 on paper but would be my primary hunting rifle. What did you end up doing and are you happy with your decision.
