Thanks you. In my choice of 30-06 I also considered the. 308. It was as I kept reading articles on smaller Caliber rounds that I got confused. And then the 2.8 western came out, which seems like a .270 with changes that I didn't fully understand. So I started thinking may I should have waited.

I ordered a custom vanguard because I thought the weatherby ammo would cost more. So a black hand laid fiberglass stock with grey high lights. #2 24" barrel threaded. My initials will be on the bottom plate.

Plinking as I need experience first.

Now that is good news. Barrel life is something I was concerned about as I'm hoping to shoot at least twice a month....40 rounds?

Plinking. yes, over 400. Hunting? I'd need a lot of confidence built from experience to hunt like that. So. Not yet.

Re-reading ? Not yet, but it's part of the long term plan.

I work part time in a home depot. My work there as me walking 4 hours 4 days a week. So I'm getting into shape. Live in west Washington so I'll be hiking too.

Thank you, very well thought out. I was reading on both .270 and .308 in my decision making...finally chose the 06.
