I have a "new in the box" Bushnell 4.5x30 I'm looking to sell. I was formerly sold under the name Elite Tactical, but the name changed to Bushnell Tac Optics. I sent my previous scope in for repair, and it wasn't back before the start of the season. I had to replace it to be able to hunt. They...
For sale: Bushnell Tac Optics 4.5-30 x 50mm
Several years ago (6-8 years?) I purchased a Bushnell 6500 Elite Tactical 4.5-30 x 50 scope. I used the scope with success on my 300 RUM. It worked well, allowing me to take game between 400 and 900 yards and targets out to 1100.
This past summer, I...
I had some friends build matching Noslers about a year ago. They wanted carry weight rifles for longer ranges on deer. Unfortunately, they continued to run into carbon ring issues. It might be something to research more before deciding.
They have since rebuilt the same rifles into 264's. At...
As far as "affordable" factory rifles, I have heard good things about the TC Compass in the 6.5cm. I has the 5 r barrel and comes pre-threaded. Putting a break on a 6.5 makes it feel like a .223. They are fun to shoot and put a hurt'in on deer. My son shot his buck at 747 with a .260 this year.
I prefer the larger 30 cal specifically using the larger bullets. 212 grn to 230 grn. The ballistic coefficients are excellent and the heavier bullets carry more energy at those farther ranges.
I can't speak specifically to the bullet you are using. However, I have seen almost exactly the same thing with my 300 RUM using the 230 berger. That happened on a cow elk at just over 100 yards and on several deer. The deer did have significant blow out on the exit because they didn't have the...
Cabelas just had a sale on those TC Compass 6.5cm's. For the price they offered, it would be hard to beat for a truck gun. The sale is over now, but they anticipate having it again before next season.
I'm interested to see where you end up with the larger bullet. I have been using the 143 ELDX with amazing success. So far, 7 shots, 7 deer. This year, my son took a whitetail at 747 yards. The deer was bedded down. The shot was right behind the shoulder missing ribs on the way in and the way...
I agree. The .260 has performed very well for me over the past 3 seasons. We have taken 7 one shot kills on whitetail deer from 200 yards out to 747 yards. I'm using the Hornady ELDX 143grns.
I suggest a 300 win mag. Reloading components are easy to find and not overpriced like Lapua. Bullet selections over 200grns will do great on elk out to 1000 yards.
