I love my Maple stocked Remington 700 BDL in 270 Win which was made in 1968. I used to carry Remington 700 BDL in 30-06 but that solid plastic but plate was really hard on my shoulder and at 76 years old that makes a lot of difference plus I love that Fiddle Back Maple Stock !!
I have carried several .44 magnums over the last 30 years. On my first trip to Alaska I carried a old model Ruger Vaquero in .44 Mag. . I checked around and found that this was not a popular sidearm due to the slow reloading time and the added danger from that problem. So I traded it in on a...
These are my, not so little, friends. The bolt actions is a 700 Remington BDL in 270 Win and the AR platform is a Ruger SR 762, ie, 308 Win. Both have over 1000 yard capability thow at 75 years old I no longer have the physical capability for such long shots.

I carry a 1986 traditional Remington 700 BDL in 270 Winchester. Yes, the old tried and proven cartridge though that king of follows along with my age at 75 years old. My other guns are a Winchester 94 in 30-30, and a Ruger SR762 (ie 308). Though the last is a bit modern it is a good solid rifle.
Morning from North Dakota. My Ruger SR762 weighs in at 11 3/4 pounds with a Nikon M308 scope, Harris bipod, and a full 20 round magazine. This does get a bit heavy for carring around all day especially in the North Dakota heat. Good luck with your build.
The levels I have are to make sure the rifle level for long range shots. I also have a scope mounting kit to help ensure that the scope rings are in line with each other without creating tension on the scope barrel.
