McMaster Carr 9657K611 CZ457 Trigger Spring?

The first thing I do when working on a trigger, Take it apart and check the sear and contact area. If the sear and contact point are not smooth. Changing springs will not help. Learned that working on a 700 Rem. Sendaro years ago. You could pick the rifle with scope up by the trigger. No scale...

    Old stock Herter’s bullets

Some one mentioned Herters Wasp Waist Bullets. Somewhere in some of my old reloading stuff. I have part of a box of 22 Cal. 50 or 55 gr. Wasp Waist Bullets bullets, I tried them in a 722 Rem. Did not shoot as good as Sierra bullets. Haven't seen them in years. Herters made a 130 gr. 6.5 round...

    Old stock Herter’s bullets

Herters, That name sure brings back memories. When I got out of the army in 1965. I started putting a set of reloading equipment together. I still sometimes use a Herters powder funnel, Still keep it in its original box. They built a press that had 2 rams with 1 handle, It held sizing die and...

    Electric Tracked Wheelchair

I worked some hunts for deer with disabled hunters and Wounded Warrior Project. We never had a disability hunt on National Forest or Public Hunting Areas. The hunts was conducted on large enclosed posted private lands. We had 1 person assigned to each hunter to assist, They had a radio for...

Trying to get smart boar hog

If you are hunting a lone certain animal, Like the bore you are hunting. You have to change your plans too. Having a partner go in with you, And then he leave will work. If you have enough clear area. Find a place that you can move to 200 yds or more from the bait. And have a good place to...

Scope clamp screw torque on ARC M-brace rings with a Sightron SVIII 5-40x56.

On a magnum, If the scope is heavy, You may want to switch to a set of rings with 2 screws on each side of ring and more contact area.

    What’s your spookiest hunting experience?

When I was about 15, Dad, Brother John, Uncle Chester and I was coon hunting, About 10 or 11 pm we was walking a pipe line right of way. About 30 yards from where we was taking a brake, Some of the wildest screams I ever heard, Sounded like it was up in a tree along the right away. Dad pulled a...

    Barrel Stock Material?

Drilling the barrel has been the hardest of making barrels in the history of firearms. Getting the hole drilled will be the first big obstacle to get over.

    Help score this whitetail 10pt?

Would not want to try to score without the rack at hand. That forked antler (Looks Mule deer) on 1 side and straight on the other will mean a lot of points counted off. Plus the forked antler side of the rack has a missing tall point.

    38 special hand loads

Bullseye, Unique was the go to powder for 38 Spec. loads back about 1971 when I went to work as a Wildlife Officer. 3.0 gr. Bullseye, Rem small pistol primer and 141 gr. wadcutter bullet cast from wheel weights was my play load. A lot of crippled deer went to the big alfalfa patch beyond with...

New "Old", Model 70, 264wm load advice, thoughts?

Haven't worked with 264 WM in years. When I had a 264 WM, There was a lot of surplus 4831 powder floating around then. The rifle loved 4831. The rifle was a 700 Rem. 1966 era. It liked a 130 gr. bullet, Built for small European case 6.5 cartridges. Made nasty looking groundhog corpses.

    Who remembers, Party Lines

I remember those days. When I was a kid, We had a wooden box phone that hung on the wall. Party line. Our ring was short, long, short. When we got a TV, 2 channels and an antenna way up on the high point behind our house. I remember at our house or my uncle Holden's house on Friday night, We...

Few rock chucks with specialty pistol

I miss Ground Hog/Wood Chuck hunting. My brother, Land owners son and I used to hunt a 1000 yd. field. The field is about 1 mile up along the river, In a desolate area. When the coyotes moved into our area they killed all the Ground Hogs in the area. Except in town and around houses and...
