Copper monolithic bullets, like barnes (i tried some)

I have used Barnes TTSX, TSX and LRX bullets exclusively in Africa, in .308, 7mm and .375 calibers. They have all performed flawlessly and provided quick, humane kills on wildebeest, kudu, zebra, blesbok, impala, bushbuck and springbok. Ranges varied from 90 to 350+ yards. I have nothing but...

My 7 PRC vs. 280 Ackley problem

I have hunted from Arizona to Africa with the 280AI since the early 90's, and it has never let me down. Low recoil, accurate and easy to load for, flat trajectory and no animal fairly hit has ever gotten away. I'd re-barrel that 280 AI without a second thought.

Switching from copper to copper jacket and vise versa -- Causing Issues?

I primarily use Barnes bullets now, but noticed that if I shot a cup-and-core load and then followed up with the Barnes loads, the subsequent groups grew from sub-MOA to over 2 MOA in size and shots landed erratically. Cleaning the barrel solved the problem.

    Scope field evaluations on rokslide

I have three SWFA scopes and each has been absolutely reliable. They are what I use to test every new rifle I get. They do not have the best glass I have ever seen and they do not have some features I like in other scopes. But if a rifle is not shooting well and is wearing one of my SWFA's, I...

    280AI Powder Choices

I use Ramshot Hunter with the Barnes 168 grain LRX bullet out of my 8-twist 280AI barrel at a velocity of 2830 fps. The load shoots well under 1 MOA consistently and gave complete passthroughs and one-shot kills on kudu, bushbuck and springbok last month. I have not tried the 168 grain...

    Rifle with Swappable Barrels

Seems like this discussion is wandering far from what the OP started with. The question was what experience people had had with switch barrel systems. You can have a switch barrel system with a torqued barrel, but you will need an action wrench and barrel vise to switch barrels. You can have a...

    Rifle with Swappable Barrels

Correct. No issues with headspace or loose barrels. If you are worried about that, Derrick has machined wrench flats on barrels in the past and you can just loosen and tighten the barrels with an end wrench. My rifles have often traveled on bumpy roads and in less-than-desirable conditions...

    Rifle with Swappable Barrels

I used to have a 700 Palma rifle that was set up as a switch barrel system with different barrels that were hand-tightened only. I experienced zero problems with the system and never had the barrels shoot loose. The work was done by Derrick Martin at Accuracy Speaks.
