The only thing that I would like to add is that the cattle birthing might be off in other areas of the country. Many factors go into it but this is more of the schedule that the farms around where I hunt are on.

For longer ranges, can't go wrong with a Nightforce scope, but I think the 5.5-22 would do just fine for 1000 yards.
