    7prc > 7rm ??

Had a custom 7RM that didn't perform the way I wanted, so I rebarreled to a 300WM and have loved it. Built a 7PRC (24" barrel} knowing full well what I could expect performance wise. 3 boxes of factory 175 ELDX to break in barrel verified drops at 2950FPS. Handloads with 175 Bergers shoot to...

    7PCR vs 284shehane or other 7mm

I have a 7 PRC and a 284. For targets only, I would choose the 284 with Lapua brass. Both rifles are extremely easy to load for. I think barrel life would be better in the 284 and less recoil. There's a reason it's been so popular in the benchrest circles. But, when it comes to hunting I'm...

Talk me into or out of buying a suppressor, please.

I'm in the minority. I have one and hate it. I don't like the extra length it added to the rifle. Makes it a pain in the *** to carry through thick cover. I always wear my Sordins when shooting or hunting. I really like that they boost sound when I need it and compress the sound when I...

What is your baseline zero a dial adjustable scope?

Sight in at 100, set zero stop and the then spin to 2.5" and carry. Can hold on hair out to 300 and I tape a drop chart on my stock that I trust to 400yds, then I can spin according to my Revic BR4.

Setting zero for hunting rifle with turrets?

I sight in at 100yds., set turrets to zero. Then I spin them to 2.5". That way I'm good to around 250 yds. with no hold over. Any further and I can turn the turrets more. I have a range card taped to my stock that I trust to 400yds. After that I will use the correction provided by the Revic BR4.

    Anyone hunt with SNS Outfitters?

A lot of people in WY don't care for Sy and his way of doing things. They are known for leasing some land but then harassing other hunters who are on BLM and State land telling them that they can't be there. Also have been known to hunt an area until there's hardly anything left and then move...

7mm Rem. Mag. and 180 grn. Bergers???

I don't have the 7 mag anymore, well I have the rifle, it was just rebarrelled to a different cartridge. What I think I learned about that barrel is that it just didn't build pressure the same as others. With the Retumbo and H1000, I got really bad powder fouling and almost couldn't get enough...

7mm Rem. Mag. and 180 grn. Bergers???

Interesting to see a thread I started 10 yrs ago get revived. I like it!

    Absolute Hammer load data

I'm calling this week to get some advise on this combo. I'm running a 22" barrels on a long action that's throated long. Hopefully it will work. Curious about having to use a faster powder as I'm using H4350 now.

    Cutting Edge vs. Hammer Bullets?

Been a Berger fan for quite a while now, but looking to try some new bullets. These will be for my 284 Win. Currently shooting the 168VLD at 2850fps. It will be used for muleys and elk to 600yds. max. Thinking about dropping to 150grn weight class. Is either bullet better then the other or...

    6.5 PRC velocity question

I shoot 58.5grns. of H1000 under a 140grn. Berger VLD at 3025fps. I worked all the way up to 61 grains with no pressure signs but decided to back off to a node that gives me zero vertical dispersion out to 1000yds. I also don't shoot groups at 100yds. anymore. I'm more concerned with how my...

Rangefinder: G7 and Kilo 2400 discontinued??

Looking to pick one of these up, but it seems like they are getting harder to find. Are they being discontinued to be replaced by a newer model? If so, any ideas when they'll be released and what will be different? On another note, which do you all prefer for hunting out to say 1000 yds...

    ES vs accuracy

Full disclosure from a personal experience. I had a 7mm RM built by earlier said gunsmith. It was giving me fits. No idea why, but with a 180 Berger and H1000 I had a load that was an ES of 7. Couldn't make it hold a group better then a paper plate at 600 but would shoot 1/2" at 100. I...

    ES vs accuracy

So by everyone's logic, if you have a good grouping load at distance, then you have a low ES/SD. So, why do I need to chronograph and see a printout to know that. I'm going to tweak my load either way until I see what I want to see. My point is, once I have a load that will shoot under MOA...

    ES vs accuracy

I threw away my chronograph a long time ago as it caused more frustration then it helped. Had loads that were accurate but bad ES and had loads with good ES but bad accuracy. I check for accuracy at the furthest distance I'll be shooting, if I see some vertical dispersion, I'll adjust charge...
