    22-250 coyote

Congratulations on an excellent shot. Running shots are always a challenge, especially at distance. Beautiful coyote.

A Testing Process By Matthew Cameron

Finally, something in writing which outlines the process of load development! Thank you. I have been working on my own process, and like was suggested, it is my own OPINION, so here it is: First is the selection of components based on research, as has been suggested. I also shoot 3-shot...

    Getting High on VO2Max

Well said, daveyj. Physical fitness at altitude can be tough to achieve if you don't live at altitude. Professional cycling is one of the most demanding disciplines out there for physical fitness. The champions all have high VO2 max's. Just look at Lance Armstrong's numbers. Bottom line is...

    Dad's Longest Shot

Congrats. It's quite a rush to connect at long range. I made my first 500yd shot a few weeks ago on a PD. It took a few shots because I didn't realize how far away it was. Unfortunately it didn't kill it right away, so I had to dispatch it myself once I found it. 500 paces exactly back to...

Degrees Of Rifle Accuracy by Ian McMurchy

I thought so too. I've owned 2 Remington 22-250s. Both shot between 2 and 3" out-the-box with factory ammo. My second one I had bedded and trigger adjusted down to 2.5lbs. What a difference that made! Just with these two "mods" my groups shrank to 1 to 1.5 inch consistently. I then had the...

    Tempeture Sensitivity of Powder

I've found leaving a round chambered longer between shots even when waiting for the barrel to cool will mess with the velocity.

    v-max for coyotes??

My experience has actually been quite different. Shooting a 223 (AR15 w/ 16" barrel, 1:9 twist) using Black Hills 223 40gr VMAX. All kills have been one tiny hole with no exit wound ranging from 40-60 yd. Muzzel Velocity around 3410fps.

    Scope for Coyote gun

Thanks for the reply. I can see the wisdom in the 50mm front objective. I had a 4.5-14x50 on my previous 22-250, but never got to hunt with it. It certaily let in more light and made a HUGE difference around dawn and dusk. I'm just concerned with the higher power ranges of being...

    products that improve accuracy

Can't comment the other products, but the David Tubb Final Finnish system worked great for me. I had a 22-250 that would barely shoot 1" and often 2" @ 100yd. Sent it back to Reminton, who rebarreled it and told me I was shooting too hot loads (I had about 300 rounds down the tube, most...

    Scope for Coyote gun

Planning on getting a Remington 700 VSF in 22-250 for coyote hunting, as well as PD and target shooting pretty soon. I'm wondering what power scope would work best on this rifle? I would like to be able to make those 500yd shots when I become proficient at shooting those distances, but I aslo...

    Leupold or Night Force??

A rule of thumb I like to go by is: the scope should cost about as much as the rifle does. I dont' have any experience with NF scopes, but from what I've read they are excellent and many people feel the optics are superior to Leupold. It all depends on what you will be using it for, and how...

    Leupold Mark 4 M3 ?

I can't confirm this by personal experience, but I recently bought the same scope (Mark 4 3.5-10x40 LR/T M3) When I bought my Badger base (from Sniper Country PX) I called in my order and discussed this issue with the salesperson. He told me I needed a 20 MOA tapered base for this scope to...

    Aaaargh, how fun is this...

I recently purchaced the same rings for an AR-15 flat-top rifle. I was not impressed with the rings. I went to mount the scope and when the rings are tightened up on the flat-top base, they seem to cant the scope off-center to the left just a bit. This is visible with the naked eye when...
