I have been wondering for I long time as to what is the most accurate type of rifleing. Is cut more accurate than cold hammer forged , or is broached more accurate than buttoned. Which is the best and why?
Been using a 243 for several years now and have yet to not drop a deer using Berger 95 gn vld bullets. Very accurate and so far for me drops them where they stand.
For what it's worth , if I'm seeing pressure signs at 42 I wouldn't go past 41.8. I would start my accuracy testing at about 41.5 going up by 1/10 grains cause I will always give up a little velocity for accuracy. Good luck with your experimentations.
When my doctor told me I had to get rid of my 30-06 or risk paralysis from old neck injuries I went to the 243. Reload Berger 95 gn vld bullets at 2950 fps. Every deer since has gone down with one shot. So if you are just looking for a deer rifle the 243 would be my choice for a youth or anyone...
