    preferred 6.5 hunting bullet

For general purpose hunting (close to mid range) I've had great results with the 140 Accubond. When I'm in open country where there's potential for longer shots, I run the 140 Berger.

Tim, did you see 130 moa adjustment on both models? I messed around a little with these at the expo in SLC but I never twisted turrets on either... I really like the basic and functional design of these. They're light too!

    looking for 2018 hunt recommendations.

Not sure what happened there. Go piblic land DIY. Way cheaper than guided and unless you're holding out for a trophy, it's not a hard hunt. Look into the areas around the central part of the state. Lots of public land and lots of goats.

    Nosler Liberty 280 AI

I don't own one (yet) but I did spend a good bit of time last summer building a load and verifying data out to 1k for one of my hunting buddies. Same model and caliber you're looking at. We ended up running a 168 VLD at 3000fps on the nose. He was consistently shooting groups in the .3s by...

    Nosler m48 rifles

My hunting buddy had one in 280ai that I load for. Shoots in the .3s all day with 168 vlds right at 3000 fps. Shoots a little tighter when he's on his game but for the most part .3s are the norm.

243 Win Varget load data for hunting round

Varget is gonna be a little fast for the bullets you're looking to shoot. I'd look to H4350 and even H4831. Some will say 4831 is too slow for the round but 48gr under a 90gr NBT in my T3 shoots lights out! I was running Varget under some 70gr slugs. I believe 42gr... I don't have my notes in...

    280AI or 7mm Rem Mag

Im not sure the type of hunting you like to do but if you cover a lot of miles on a hunt, the 280ai in a lightweight setup is pretty sweet. I'm looking at eventually buying/building one for my backpack hunts. In a heavier long range type setup, I'd go with the 7 mag for sure.

    147ELDM terminal performance on Antelope

Everything I've read and heard on the eldm so far has been positive. I have 2 boxes on the bench to try in my 264 wm. I agree with Tim that there isn't a bullet on the market that hasn't failed to perform properly at some point. I can definitely understand witnessing that type of performance...

    Got a minor dilema...

Brass isn't too hard to get. No ejector marks or swiped brass showing up.

    Got a minor dilema...

It's mine as well! I've found the same thing with virgin brass. I'm guessing the brass stretching upon firing creates a pressure buffer of sorts. I usually do all my seating depth testing while I'm fire forming my brass to try to keep my round count to a minimum as these barrels certainly don't...

    Got a minor dilema...

I didn't know hogdon listed data for the 150s. I've been running the 140 gr accubond over 69gr retumbo (same keg I'm using right now) for the last few years in this rifle. That was giving me right at 3200 fps which is pretty common for that bullet weight. That bullet actually has a longer...

    Got a minor dilema...

My chrony went haywire last week so it's gonna get replaced here real soon. That load was 68 gr of retumbo. Temp was 66 degrees this afternoon and overcast so heat wouldn't have been an issue. I know retumbo can be somewhat "spikey" from past experience but I've never seen that kind of...

    Got a minor dilema...

Edges of the primer indentation raised a little. Half a grain lower didn't show anything like that pressure wise. Edges of the primer were still round. That pic is at a bit of an angle. That group is .286. Got the sweet spot on the seating depth already so I'm going to work backwards in charge...

    Got a minor dilema...

I've been working up a load this summer for my 264 wm with 150 gr matrix. Finally settled on a really nice load. The only issue I have is the load is pretty hot. I'm starting to get a little bit of primer flow. If I back it off .5gr it opens up to about .5 moa. I don't want to eat up brass but...
