Use a QD with a brake on the rifle to mount the can. It will be well shorter than either of your rebarrel options without the can and if you need a quick shot take it. If f you have a moment to put the can on great, dial the difference between your no can zero and your can on zero and go.

ES and SD tighten up with mag primers, velocity changes too, depending on the powder you may need to bump down 1-2 tenths. I'd use SRP in the small primer brass, also will need to bump down a couple tenths using them.

I tried 869 in 300 RUM with 212 ELD-X from a 26" barrel and couldn't get enough in the case to get pressure, I think I was in the low 112's range using a 18" drop tube and vibrating the case, my bullets were pushing back out of the case enough to measure. It was a full case plus. I was loading...
