I have both and give my vote for the 280 AI. Less powder, less recoil and all you need is a barrel. 280 AI and 6.8 Western are my 2 favorites. 7 PRC is a good round but I’m just not sold on it, I’ve loaded some great loads for it but it just sits in the safe now.
Just loaded some 130 TTSX this week over Tac, Lapua brass, and WLR. Great load. I got 3150 at the starting load. Found a high (3255fps) load and a low one at 3165. Sensitive on seating depth for sure!
You just spoke the gospel!! Everyone talking about Joe they have all used Leupold and Vortex warranty😂. I like buying when I don’t have to use the warranty. Good lord knows I’ve spent plenty to figure that out!!
You be fine either the SHV. Either magnification you choose you’ll be fine. I do think you’d be much happier with the Nightforce! Also look at the ZEISS Conquest 4 line. Very nice optics. Those would be the 2 I would seriously consider. If you were closer you could try before you buy😂
I totally understand!! I shoot a 308 at 1k with the max magnification on the SHV less than the 14. The problem exists that while hunting, especially in the southeast the lower the magnification the better. Most shots are closer than further. Less magnification generally helps if you are hunting...
My neighbor and myself have both had too many issues with Leupold products. They didn’t act as quick as Burris has for warranty work. With that being said if you go with the Leupold it’s nice to research their warranty. If you go with Nightforce I have only heard their warranty and service is...
I use HuntWise. It will mark locations and track your trails. It also has a very useful upgrade that shows property lines and who owns the property. The GPS portion of this app works without cell service. Hope it works for you
I am primarily a hog hunter and do not take long shots and do not like recoil as well. I have seen multiple hog shot with multiple calibers in different scenarios. My vote would be a 7mm-08 for a rifle hands down. Im not a ballistics expert but for some reason it is the most effective and seems...
Thank you to everyone. I think I have it nailed down! The .308 decision was made by my 10 year old daughter (who owns many rifles and dont have a one!). Myself being a 7mm-08 fan I will get the Browning Hell's Canyon in 7mm-08 and get her a Remington Varmit SF .308 with a Magpul stock and then...
Thanks, I looked thru both scopes yesterday and the Burris wins for me even though I love my Vortex. what are your thoughts between the 2 rifles? The Browning's muzzle break can be taken off and capped. There again I have had great luck with the Remington 700's but always looking out of the box.
