Yep! I've been truing faces for a few years now. I also do a tubbs final finish in mine to get a head start on smoothing out the gas port. I also shim and lockitite my barrels into the uppers if they are not thermal interference fit.
The 308 is in my stable just for shooting while my other barrels cool. I can just dump rounds down range without the worry of barrel life. I shoot to 1000 yards with 178s sure the wind pushes it around more. But it’s still a very capable cartridge. I will always have a couple 308s in the safe.
Selling another set of these because I sold the scope and went to a 34mm upgrade.
No scratches, comes with everything from the factory. They are only a couple months old. The last set sold for 85$
So I’ll list these the same. 85$ shipped
Money order or paypal friends and family. No notes. Thanks.
Not much more versatile than the 30-06!
There’s not any argument you could have to convince me that it’s not.
As far as break in, being 30-06 with great barrel life, why not just break it in? Right or wrong, it certainly doesn’t hurt a thing. That late great JE Custom! (RIP Jerry your are truly...
I have a magnetto sporter that I use most of the time. I considered the V3 but it only offered me a little more luxury but not any more data, so I saved my money and went with the sporter. I now regret it, I have several rifle barrels in the 1.2” straight taper range and my sporter won’t work...
Take a hard look at the Athlon ares btr gen 2 4.5-27x50. Great glass, nice turrets and good tracking with a nice reticle that’s a tree style but not to busy at all, I think it comes in under 30 ounces too. Athlon seems to have the illumination figured out as well, I’ve seen some popular sub 1k...
Find a load with 178s and and he will pretty much cover all the bases that a 308 will offer performance wise.
Deer and other large game.
Long range steel fun out to 1k.
All that is achieved fairly well with 175-178 class bullets.
