I agree, I was going to respond to the thread with, the key to trigger technique/control is recoil management and losing the fear of it.

I probably shipped close to 30 optics thru USPS. Couple slow deliveries but all of them got where they needed to be. Priority mail only for me.

Yep! I've been truing faces for a few years now. I also do a tubbs final finish in mine to get a head start on smoothing out the gas port. I also shim and lockitite my barrels into the uppers if they are not thermal interference fit.

The 308 is in my stable just for shooting while my other barrels cool. I can just dump rounds down range without the worry of barrel life. I shoot to 1000 yards with 178s sure the wind pushes it around more. But it’s still a very capable cartridge. I will always have a couple 308s in the safe.

Take a hard look at the Athlon ares btr gen 2 4.5-27x50. Great glass, nice turrets and good tracking with a nice reticle that’s a tree style but not to busy at all, I think it comes in under 30 ounces too. Athlon seems to have the illumination figured out as well, I’ve seen some popular sub 1k...

Find a load with 178s and and he will pretty much cover all the bases that a 308 will offer performance wise. Deer and other large game. Long range steel fun out to 1k. All that is achieved fairly well with 175-178 class bullets.
