I should have explained…. I’m thinking in advance for a rifle at the smith now. This particular rifle has clearance and doesn’t need it front or back, although the back is close.

Is it easy to have a smith shave down the front and back of the full length scope base to allow more clearance for the scope? Areas circled in red I’m referring to. Just have them shaved down to height of main rail thickness.

I am open to recommendations. I would like to honestly stay sub $1,500 so even a couple on my list would have to be used/on sale.
