I'm out'a ideas that might cause detonation/S.E.E. then. Judging by the picture of the brass, although somewhat blurry, I suspected the charge might have frozen packed against the bullet with an air gap in front of the primer.

To the OP, were the cartridges stored bullet face down, up, or on their sides during transport and cold exposure?

Is it possible there was moisture of some form introduced during the powder loading process for the culprit cartridge? If the powder froze together in certain areas, couldn't that be (in theory) a cause for S.E.E. to occur? Hot coffee steaming next to the powder scale perhaps?

Is that a crack at the base of the neck on the brass, or carbon?

200 of these bad boys on hand now (thank you Steve/Sue). options are 26 nosler and 6.5cm, gonna try both as time permits. i have a 6.5 grendel bolt gun too, might try it too just for giggles (assuming it wont get completely stuck in the barrel).

i would go with a 284 win over the 7-08.

be awesome to see a .25 130vld sitting in a necked down 6.5 creedmoor (or necked up 6 creedmoor).

Prefer a 26" for all pole vaults as they seem to provide a bit more lift over the briar patches.
