    28 Gauge 00 Buckshot

I reload some for rifle, but just can’t seem to find time anymore. Once the F-Open rifle is done time is going to be my largest challenge (other than wind).

How many gearheads on LRH ?

My dream car is a black ‘69 Camero with a 4 bolt main 350 hooked into a 350 turbo turning a 410 positrac rear end. My dad had that setup when I was around 4 or 5, and I never realized it until I was in my 20’s. He had sold it because it wasn’t practical at the time. Two of my cousins had...

    28 Gauge 00 Buckshot

Been a while since I’ve posted anything on here, and I realize this isn’t exactly the right forum for shotguns, but thought WTH. I am in the process of having a straight 284 built for F-Open and am still waiting on the Golden Bear action to complete the parts list. During the wait I acquired a...

    How to blowup your rifle

I'm out'a ideas that might cause detonation/S.E.E. then. Judging by the picture of the brass, although somewhat blurry, I suspected the charge might have frozen packed against the bullet with an air gap in front of the primer.

    How to blowup your rifle

To the OP, were the cartridges stored bullet face down, up, or on their sides during transport and cold exposure?

    How to blowup your rifle

Is it possible there was moisture of some form introduced during the powder loading process for the culprit cartridge? If the powder froze together in certain areas, couldn't that be (in theory) a cause for S.E.E. to occur? Hot coffee steaming next to the powder scale perhaps?

    How to blowup your rifle

Is that a crack at the base of the neck on the brass, or carbon?

    Unexpected Search Result

was googling for some info on 4350 powder, and stumbled across something fairly interesting. one of the search results pointed me to a book titled "Blood of the Helgsberg Diamonds" by Matt Clark. check out page 67 on google books if you have a few mins. you never know what you'll stumble upon...

    160gr Matrix

holy crap, i just ran the numbers for 2000fps (estimated for the grendel) and the darn thing would still be supersonic at 1000yds. i was just joking about loading up for it, but on a dead calm day that might actually be interesting. [edit] used Litz's numbers from his very informative post...

    160gr Matrix

200 of these bad boys on hand now (thank you Steve/Sue). options are 26 nosler and 6.5cm, gonna try both as time permits. i have a 6.5 grendel bolt gun too, might try it too just for giggles (assuming it wont get completely stuck in the barrel).

    6.5 SAUM, 6.5 Creedmoor, 7mm-08

i would go with a 284 win over the 7-08.

    243 or 25-06

be awesome to see a .25 130vld sitting in a necked down 6.5 creedmoor (or necked up 6 creedmoor).

    243 or 25-06

Prefer a 26" for all pole vaults as they seem to provide a bit more lift over the briar patches.

    243 or 25-06

Not sure of the outcome of this thread at this point, but what about the 260 Rem in a Rem SPS? I have never shot a 243, and never plan to own one as I prefer 6.5's (at least at this point in my life). I mention the 260 because you state you are partial to Rem, and I dont think they chamber the...
