I went back to fresh and put the gun together from scratch again. I ended up shimming the magazine catch with a copper brake washer ground to fit to make the rounds hit the feed ramp. It works pretty decent now with an unmolested magazine.

I fixed mine. I shimmed the mag catch with a copper brake washer ground down to fit. The rounds werent hitting the feed ramp. Once I lowered the fromt of the mag enough to get the round to hit the feed ramp, it was pretty smooth sailing

It has the exact same staggerfeed mag as a 10 actually. Really there's only a few differences in the 2. The axis is just the more simple, less refined version. Almost like savage sat down and said ok what is the absolute least we can do to an action and it still function lol.
