Long range muzzleloader for a noob

"Hyping one or the other based on fear seems a bit silly." I'll stand by that! Rifles designed for smokeless loads and using smokeless are just as safe as those designed for BP loads and using BP. I don't put gasoline into diesel fuel tank or into a kerosene heater, and I would not put...

Long range muzzleloader for a noob

Any rifle can blow up for a variety of reasons! Short start a smokeless load and you almost always get a poof since you don't have the pressure to keep the powder burning. Do the same with BP and you generally have a pipe bomb! Negligence with muzzleloading rifles is a recipe for disaster...

    Cheek weld?

This is probably a dumb idea, but I have a problem with proper check weld and feel I am in a different spot for almost every shot. Actually I know I am because of the reticle never appears to be in the same place! I have a Savage synthetic stock with medium high rings. What I am thinking...

    Batf ?

So would you interpret that a rifle that does not use fixed metallic cartridge does not count? That almost sounds like a consumable cartridge would not be considered a rifle also...which would not make sense intuitively anyway!!

    Batf ?

A short barreled rifle requiring a tax stamp has a barrel less than 16 inches and oran overall length of less than 26 inches. Does this also apply to a muzzle loading rifle?

    Rifled Barrel length?

Thanks for the replies :). edge.

    Rifled Barrel length?

The only question is the rifled barrel length needed for accuracy. Let me make it more clear, a Railgun Pistol for shooting a subsonic bullet. Perhaps for simplicity a .45 with say a 200 grain bullet @ 1000 fps. All I want to know is whether the barrel length has anything to do with accuracy...

    Rifled Barrel length?

If I disregard the barrel length needed to reach velocity is there any minimum length of rifling needed to ensure stability and accuracy? For the sake of argument, I have a breech and barrel that can safely use 200kpsi and disregard muzzle blast. How long does the barrel need to be, 1", 2"...

    Power Outage!

Power Outage We had a power outage at our house this morning and my PC, laptop, TV, ROKU, DVD, iPad & my new surround sound music system were all shut down. Then I discovered that my Phone battery was flat, and to top it off, it was raining outside, so I couldn't play golf. I went...

    Furlough again ...

B*stards ripped us off twice! So let me get this right: The Government spends too much money so we try to cut it; They shut it down which should save some dollars; They give us less services AND pay Government workers for when they DON'T work! Here is my plan. We hired Ken Feinberg as the...

    Furlough again ...

IMO, it is a non deal! They have to be back to work by the 17th. These days off will be chalked up to the sequester in next years budget so there will be no more lost time than the sequester cost them already... edge.

    Furlough again ...

If Obama does not implement the law as written then the GOP has every right to try to break it up! Why does Obama get the right to not implement it as written and he gets a pass, but when the GOP wants to not implement almost the same thing but on the personal side they get lambasted? Why are...

    Furlough again ...

Wasteful spending!!! New Year "A Harvard study found that from 2004 to 2009, 16.5 percent of all spending occurred in the last month of the year and 8.7 percent in the last week. Money spent on consistent needs such as office equipment and information technology is more or less well spent, but...
