270 wsm or 280 ackley improved

I agree that the LRAB is gonna give new life to the 270 WSM, heck even the 270. You can run a 162 at 3000 with a .625 BC with a 280AI. The 270 win with the 150 LRAB is going to be right on the 280AIs heels. The 270 WSM is going to be a tad ahead of the 280AI. I am thinking about rebarreling...

    Can primers reduce E.S.?

Like you stated, it is getting off topic. I went out in the shop and knocked the dust of my pressure trace ii last night. someone else playing with it got my interest back up. I had planned to strain gauge my 338AM but my glue was too old. Feel free to PM me or start a thread on pressure...

So whats wrong with the .243 on Deer?

I cannot believe I read the whole thread while already knowing the answer in the definitive. I have been a 6mm fan for years and have made a few longish range shots with the 243AI and 115 DTacs. One of my favorite hunting memories was killing a antelope at 540 and watching the land owners jaw...

    Can primers reduce E.S.?

H2O volumes of actual fired cases are about as close as you can get to measuring volume, you can adjust for that in QL. I find it to be w/n 10% and usually much closer. I have pressure trace and played with it a great deal when I first got it several years ago. It sits on a shelf now, while...

6.506 vs 280 AI using 140 gr bullets

140s, 6.5 is going to be the winner. I have not shot a 140 in a .280AI in a really long time now. A fairer comparison would be 6.5/06 with a 140 vs a 280AI with 162s. 140 6.5s have comparable BCs to the 7mm 160 class bullets. The 6.5/06 has about a 80 fps velocity advantage with 140s over...

    .338-50 Talbot

Not a 338-50 but if your interested in a 375-416 BarretI have all the parts, reamer, and components needed including a press. I had planed on making my own dies but never got around to it. If your really interested I can make the dies or whoever chambers the gun can make them for you.

    Can primers reduce E.S.?

With BR rifles, we do stupid stuff, so yes it is basically working up a load for each type of primer used. To be perfectly honest though, I am to the point that I do not think it is worth the effort. With longrange guns I never worry with ES anyway. I only look at vertical dispersion. If my...

    Can primers reduce E.S.?

Well said about "best" primers being abstract. With one gun using an identical powder charge and bullets CCIs may work best, in another gun Win primers may work best. I usually just pick one primer and work the load using it. Only in benchrest guns do I ever do any testing by swapping primers.

What NF scope for 600 yards and under?

The compact's lack of parallax adjustment would be the deciding factor for me. If you are an experienced shooter and understand the need for a consistent cheek weld I would go with the compact. I hear they are coming out with a new compact with a parallax adjustment, they may already be...

308 LC 12 brass - primed: OK it is UGLY - BUYER beware

Back to the brass. I got mine today the 12 LR was in great shape the 50% of other headstamps were not too impressive. There were a lot of 11s that looked okay and tens that looked pretty cruddy. Got 500 deprimed and all the 12s tumbled. I wish that there had been more than about 50% of...

I have not. I would be interested to see the results but I canno make myself drag to real chronograph out to do the comparison.

    MagnetoSpeed.com

I like em. I got one a couple weeks ago and have to say I have used it more times in two weeks than I have used my oheler this year. You have to add some spacers to get the bullet/sensor clearance correct, but it is easy. Strap it on and you are ready to shoot. It cuts on...

    Aluminum Barrel Nut

Nothing to gain with a barrel nut, especially an aluminum one. You do not have to go with pre determined barrel contours. Get a barrel contoured to dupe whatever your looking for. Barrel nuts are great when you have a barrel you want to shoot on multiple guns, not really the best answer...
