Why 22"?
You have multiple options in this "ball park".
25x6.5prc
25x6.5prcSI
25sst
25x7prc
25SS
25Max
25 sherman
25-06AI
The ONLY advantage I see in a 25x6.5prc is lapua brass. Everything else I listed has more case capacity than the 6.5prc case if I remember correctly.
I think that 80gr...
Good looking gun! Maybe someone will chime in with a full size one with a fast twist and give some velocity numbers. I'd guess that a 26" 25-06AI or 25sherman with some retumbo would push a 140gr 3100fps.
Not knocking what you got btw
Yeah I knew they came in loaded ammo. 147 would be where I stop in a creedmoor case. But I also don't own a creedmoor so I'll never need to make that decision.
I just saw that your 257wby is 22". How much velocity do you think you are losing per inch vs a 26" barrel? I would think it's close...
I don't think the 153 or 156 was ever really intended for use in a creedmoor. That little case just can't push them fast enough.
I figured a 257wby would run a 140gr well north of 3200fps? Are you hobbled with a short barrel?
Great info! Thanks for sharing!!
The main reason I'm leaning towards an 25cal is it's not too big for coyotes and not too small for deer. Not that anything is really too big for coyotes and this rifle won't be necessarily be used as a deer rifle but I do call coyotes after I get out of the deer...
