You should try a Backcountry Ti. Dad has one in 300 Wby, and it shoots incredibly well. The 3D Hex recoil pad plus the brake make it very easy to shoot, and even more so to carry.

180 grain bullet, 80.5-82.0 grains of 7828SSC and your 300 Weatherby will kill everything. With every 300 Wby I load (several) I try 80.5/81.0/81.5/82.0. One of those 4 loads WILL shoot well and you need look no further.

Absolutely the right answer. Some may be able to make it work to X distance, but the limit on any cartridge is truly set by your skill and practice.
