    New build, 7mm rem mag?

I too recommend the Trigger Tech triggers. They are “the bomb”. 👍👍

I still find them “walking about” in gunshows. The last one I bought (Nov 2023) had PO Ackley stamped on the barrel and the guy selling it was apologetic that it was “just a 30.06”. I gave him a suggestion and offered that a properly loaded 30.06, shooting a bullet complementing a given barrel...

How to identify mauser 98 action.

These DWM-manufactured receivers are a great place to start when building a Mauser project rifle.

Trying to identify a “Swiss Mauser”

It appears to be a Small Ring M 96-style Mauser from what I can see in the pictures you sent. These have one less locking lug than the M 98 Mauser rifles (two versus threes). They make excellent rifles for small to medium calibers, and I've seen some "maxed out"...I've never seen one in 45-70...

    identify mauser action

ALL military Mausers have to be drilled and tapped to fit a scope base to the upper receiver. If that process was not done with a proper jig, you will find alignment challenges as you attempt to zero your scope. There are various kinds of scope bases; some one piece units rise up over the...

    98 Mauser saftey

One more suggestion is to find an aftermarket "model 70 Winchester-style" swing arm safety and replace the military style lever that is always something to deal with with a scoped Mauser. You can find them at Brownells. I'd find a competent gunsmith to install this as a minor modification to...

    Help with model 98 Mauser?

I love them, and have chambered from 25-06 to .458 Win Mag with them. I'm hoping the people at Trigger Tech offer a Large Ring Mauser trigger soon, as I've fallen in love with those and that's my only want in my rebuilt Mausers.

The Fabrique National Herstale "FN" actions can be found on so many different rifles sold in the U.S. under names like, Colt, Sears-Roebuck, Weatherby and Browning to name a few that I'm surprised this thread didn't receive more responses. Browning Safari's are made on those FN actions and then...

Enjoy, that cartridge should be a real winner in that rifle.

How to identify mauser 98 action.

On the LH side of the military receivers look for these words: Deutsche Waffen-Und MunitionsFabrriken Berlin, aka DWM. Many countries chartered their military rifles manufacturing through DWM and had stamped a country name and image on the top and side of the forward receiver ring. The Mauser...

    Mauser 98 re-barreling

"My" gunsmith suggests the "crush fit", that is how all my re-barrelled actions have been built.

    Mauser 98 actions

My first "custom" built rifle was a 7mm Remington Magnum on a VZ24 sporterized Mauser. It's been to Africa with me now 6 times and always a favorite.

    Help with model 98 Mauser?

Yes you can cut/grind a "ramp" into the magazine follower so that the bolt face will slide up and over the follower after firing the last round from the magazine. If you take a look at a Browning Safari rifle from the 1960-70's you will see how they sporterized that classic M 98 receiver and...
