    #1 Choice in Gun Powder.

I'm down to two already-Varget and H4831sc. Were I have to go to just one, it'd be Varget, I'd just quit shooting magnums.

Savage or another ML for shooting over 200 yards

I had planned on buying a Savage last year, was talkied into trying Blackhorn 209 powder in my Knight DISC before spending the money. I still have the Knight, using 120grs. of BH 209 with a Dead Center bullet gives me three shots under four inches at 200 yards. I saved several hundred $$ in...

    .308 Hunting Load Development

Frankly, I'm amazed at the velocities you obtained with a 180 from a 20" barrel.

    Real World VS Loading manuals

Once fired Winchester brass, CCI 250 primers. Fitch, I found your load data to be pretty close. Going up 1/2 grain each for three shots I stopped at 68 grains, velocity in the 3040 range, still zero pressure signs. Since temps while shooting were in the 93 degree range and typical hunting...

    Real World VS Loading manuals

Thanks to all that have replied, sorry I haven't been back sooner but sometimes life happens. I have NOT measured the C.O.L, I'm using Remington Core-loks, seated to cannelure. I have checked all cases before and after firing above and on the belt for expansion, none. Primers show nothing...

    hornady sst

Wildhog, what are you running them through? I have a load using 47 grains of 4064 for my .308 that chronos at 2800 fps. With three shot under 5/8" not bad for a sporter weight barrel.

    hornady sst

My only complaint with the SST and every other non bonded bullet is sometimes when pushed at 2900fps or faster is their tendency to handgrenade, then lacking penetration. So I load SST's for open country hunting, bonded core for areas where shots are usually under 200 yards. Perfect partners...

    Real World VS Loading manuals

The barrel is 26" plus the Boss, probably close to 30" all told. My reason for posting is that 2900 fps really seems slow for any cartridge with MAGNUM in its moniker. Heck, I'm getting 2825 with a .308, 150gr. bullets, 22" barrel. That I'm topping out at 2900 with this 7mm using 30% more...

    Real World VS Loading manuals

I'm working on a load for a 7mm Remington magnum using H-4831sc, 150 grain bullets. I'm at 66 grains with no pressure signs, velocity averaging a sedate 2900 fps. Depending on what source followed I'm either at or four grains over recommended max, to be honest I'm not certain which direction...

    H-4831-Fallen out of favor?

It seems that H-4831 is no longer one of the favorites, especially when reloading for the 7mm Rem mag. Is there a reason that loading manuals are showing fewer loads for this powder and its not as highly recommended now as it was a few years ago?

COMFORT ZONE FOR 1st ROUND HIT

100% sure...bad hair day, bad night, wind, rain, bone chilling cold, coffee jitters, hung over from that just one more..... for me this is 400 yards. Everything perfect: (which MIGHT happen once in ten years) 500 yards.

    Asking the experts..

Since many here I consider to know just about anything and everything possible concerning shooting at extended ranges, I figgered this would be the place to ask this question....Would it be even remotely possible for ANYONE to consistently make 700-800 shots on running big game animals? In...

    SOLD/EXPIRED Alot of BRASS

I've purchased from this gentleman, brass is top notch, as is dealing with him.

    Favorite powder for .243

I run IMR-4350 with 100 grain Nosler Partitions, the load I use being three grains over book max with no pressure signs. Groups out of my old Savage do under an inch for three shots @100, do just over two inches @300. This load is like a death ray on our rather smallish (under 200#) deer, kill...

    How many Master Masons here?

I've been one since 1982. Seen more misinformation spread on the Masonic order than what comes out in the National Enquirer. Whether through ignorance or just plain malicious intent, I'm not sure but I wish folks would get their facts straight. Also remember that just about every forefather...
