    Cosine Indicator

I'm definately no expert on the subject and haven't done much angle shooting in the real world but I have read quite a bit about the subject. I've read the difference between the angle cosine difference and some ballistics software is that the software takes into account for the time of flight...

    MOA vs. inches question

I don't think that 47 clicks is correct. Use the MOA value as previously stated. If your dial on your scope is 0 when you are zeroed at your desired range, and the chart says come up 9 MOA, dial your scope up to 9. I use MOA charts and they are easier and quicker. Don't worry about how many...

    Nikon Tactical Parralax

Hello all, Just wondering if anyone who has a Nikon Tactical 2.5-10 knows what the dots on the side parallax are suppost to be for yardage. Or if you have done the parallax test (adjusting the knob untill the cross hairs don't move) what you came up with for values. Thanks for any info, Cobber

    Wildcat Bullets?

Thanks for the insite Fifty; I won't have a chance to play with them for quite a while (whitetail season starting, then skiing and snowmobiling), but I will get to them eventually and keep you posted. As for the 130 grainers, I may give them a shot at some point. Its hard for me to move away...

    Wildcat Bullets?

Fifty, I have sent a few emails back and forth to Richard about .277 bullets. Have you had a chance to try any of these out yet? I know he's suppost to come out with a few different weights / styles. I was going to test out some of his 168 grainers, but I'm not sure if my twist (1-10)in my...

    Gun for deer/long range shooting

If you're only hunting deer, I'd stay with the 270WSM over the 300WSM. The 300 uses heavier bullets and has greater recoil. Either are suitable. I would look at different gun configurations and figure out how much you want the gun to weigh and decide how much recoil you want to manage...

    Survey on Scopes!!!

My only experience with higher quality scopes are Nikon's. I have: 2-7 X 32 3-9 X 40 4-12 X 44 AO 6.5-20 X 44 AO 2.5 - 10 X 44 Tactical The optical quality is great in all them. I like the 2-7X32 for a light weight brush gun for whitetail. The Tactical is good for close quarter or long range...

    Barrel Life

IMHO = In My Honest Opinion I don't think Moly is an acronym but not sure. As for Hoppes, I used to use, but could never get all the copper (blue) out of my bore. I've switched to Butch's Bore Shine (can buy in Cabelas), and am thinking of getting some of that new 50BMG bore cleaner. Butch's...

    Teaching myself to reload

I didn't have anyone in the area to show me how to reload either, so I bought a lot of books and read everything I could find on the subject. Read everything you can, remember safety 1st, and make sure you understand the operation at hand. If you don't understand why you are doing something...

    260 help

You should be fine with that twist and a 120 or 100 grainer. Just have to see if they shoot well. I'm sure they will. With a 1/8 twist you could shoot the 140 grain bullets if you wanted to go with a higher BC bullet.

Ian, I need your help, please?

The cosine indicator would work good with an accurate printed agnle compensation (as in the one Exbal produces with Excel) chart if it showed you the angle instead of the angle indicator. Does anyone know if there is something like this that shows the agnle. If not, how do you accurately (and...

    nikon 6x18x40

I have Nikon's on all my guns and have been very pleased. There optic quality is excellent, and the scopes are rugged. I wouldn't get anything that wasn't in the Monarch, Monarch Gold or Tactical series though. Buckmasters aren't quite as good topically. Monarch 6.5-20X44 is the way to go...

What scope power would you use?

I'd use a Nikon Monarch 3.3-10X44 AO or 4-12X40 AO. No side parallax; it has the adjustable objective but very nice scopes for the price. That would put you well under your $700 price cap. I don't think you'll need a 30mm tube for that range. Just look at a ballistic chart and see how many...
